Plug in Tuning chips - any good?

Just come accross this on ebay and was wondering if anyone had any experience, or if it is too good to be true? Upto 35bhp for £25!!

I'm a new Seat owner having just got my new company car of a Leon FR 170 so limited to the mods I can do to it.

Oh and this is also my fist post so be gentle

It will make a slight difference but no way 30bhp, basically it`s just a resistor your plugginginto the fuel tempature sensor that adds more fuel. Very crude.

thanks for the info. not likely to gain extra mpg then as claimed?

No not really mate. If you take one of these things apart it`s usually just a plug either end with a resistor wired into one of the terminals which is why they are so cheap. You might get 5-10 bhp on a good day so it`s not a con as such but not very good or effective.

i ve run with one of theses plug in chips found my 140 tdi to be much quicker and belive it the mpg went up to mid 50s only draw back was lumpy idle and abit of extra smoke and shreadded front tyres so i have now removed it chris

Both caused by excess fueling.
