cupra / sport / FR - whats the difference in the models?

hi whats the difference in the models? which has more power, better handling and better brakes of the mk1 bunch?

do all these have the 180bhp engine (i know the later models had 210-225 bhp?)

im looking at buying one soon and wanted to know what i should be looking for

Leon Cupra R - 1.8 turbo, 210bhp, 220bhp, 225bhp, full cupra R body kit, 18" wheels

Leon Cupra - 1.8 turbo, 180bhp, rounded body kit, facelift models are from 2002 onwards (i believe) 17" starfish alloys (again varies on age

Leon FR - deisel version, 1.9 turbo, 150bhp, same body kit as the facelift cupra but with different 17" alloys and grey mirrors, plus few interior changes. also available with the same engine as the leon cupra

Leon FR+ - same as above but with cupra R styling but with 17" wheels, but petrol version not available

as for the sport, i believe the come in various sizes, but without turbos?

Just to point out the Cupra, FR and FR+ came in both petrol and diesel versions. However I am unaware of a Leon Cupra with 220bhp just the 210 and 225 versions

i didnt think you could get an FR+ in petrol? and as for the BHP..i think they originally started at 210bhp..then brought out the 220bhp, then the last few 225 to shift em

FR+ is only in diesel on the mk1 according to my local seat dealer.

so if i have up to £3500 to spend i should be looking at a mk1 cupra to get the most for my money?

i believe this can be remapped to 210bhp? and with further mods, it can be better? is this correct?

Nope, if i remember right it was actually 212bhp and 222bhp.
But branded as 210's and 225's never a 220bhp model was made!

mines a cupra. if youve got the money... you can take it above 300bhp . but thats new turbo etc..

remap alone should get you 210bhp.

Yeah was wondering where the 220bhp model came from too?

Cupra R 210 & 225 differences are listed here too.

I'm sure there is a thread with differences on Sport, Cupra, FR etc.. somewhere too?

my sport is a 180ps 1.8t APP engine with K03s turbo, auto rain wipers folding mirrors etc... just no leathers or electric/heated seats etc... some information suggests that the cupra was a rebadged sport or vice versa
