Yes you could theoretically just put a breather filter but

a) its going to get clogged up with oil in about 2 days

b) it will sh!t oil all over your engine bay

ok I see, so basically you could just get a oil breather pipe filter and put that on ?? Do you really need a can on it as well ??

Also http://www.fuelefficientsystems.co.uk/index.php?page=egr-replacement-power-pipe-kits is this good as it is to replace the EGR valve or does this basically make more exhaust gases get back into ure engine ?? Where can these oil catch cans be bought ??

And it it a big job cleaning you inlet manifold, or even checking for the muck from the oil and exhaust fumes ??

yeah agreed, it will just make a mess of your engine bay.

Its not to much of a big job to clean the inlet mani, just need some time and slim hands to fit down the back to unbolt it. Theres loads about cleaning the inlet on here and tdiclub if you search for egr cleaning you should find what you want.

Checking for it is as easy as popping off the hose and looking down the egr into the inlet.

I simply cannot believe the difference in temperatures the plastic air induction pipe gets.

With no catch can that plastic used to get red hot on mine, now I have a catch can and no gases are getting re-cycled the temperatures are down massivly.

That makes me smile :)
