I have a 2007 mdl year 2.0 TDI Stylance dsg done 21300 miles. Average mpg 40.74 check tank to tank use millers. Do not drive car hard, but now getting fed up not being able to get a decent mpg

Do we get a group discount from revo, as I am undecided what to do next?

Go for a Golf 6 or Octavia 2 1.4 tsi with dsg or go a cheaper route for 14 months and hope tuning could improve:confused:

It depends on your driving style and the type of driving you do.. I do a 70 mile round commute on A roads/motorways and get 50mpg most of the time. If you do stop/start town driving that will inevitably drop of..

I've found that accelerating smartly in the lower gear before changing up seems to give me better economy than changing up as soon as possible.

Also, check that your tyre pressures are correct - a few psi can make a big difference to your fuel consumption..

P-Torque are doing a VERY CHEEP GOOD DEAL atm. Do a quick search. If i find it ill pop up the link.

Your mpg would most likely get worse with the 1.4 tsi.

Best bet like its been said, get up to speed quickly in first and scond, then stick it in a cruising gear. Thats how we have been taught to drive our vans at work to conserve fuel. Couldnt tell you whether it works or not though as I dont pay my mpg any attention.

I was disappointed with the mpg I got from my 2.0 TDI Stylance - overall worked out at 44 mpg and that was with millers

On a long run I could hit 48 as long as I didn't go mad....

With the price of diesel and the fact that I got a new job with doing less miles I've changed to a Leon FR T FSI - so far I am managing 30.5 mpg with that

Taking into account the fuel is cheaper and I'm not paying for millers I'm quite happy :)

I check tyre pressures weekly with a quality gauge and already drive car as suggested, brisk through the gears but unless I stick to 60 mph max, things don`t improve. Round town average drops to 34-38 mpg max. Every other car Ive driven over the years, either my own or loan cars have always returned around the combined average until this one (diesels and petrol). daily journey approx. 32 miles with morning run clear. Longer runs don`t make any difference really. Just think it`s a poor example, as had 2 replacement turbo`s by 6900 miles, due to poor consumption and excess smoking

I do not think that the 1.4 TSI with 7 speed dsg box will be worse, as quoted mix is the same as my TDI approx. 47.5 for Golf :(less for Skoda and fuel will be cheaper. Seat do not appear to have 7 speed dsg planned for Leon 1.4 TSI (ref my supplying dealer). Unless the manufacturers drop the current overpriced premium for diesel then will not go this route again, although I prefer the low down torque of a diesel.

on the motorway I get 42mpg according to my trip computer in my 1.4 ibiza and thats with one passenger and a bootful of ice. I would expect the TDI's to get 50 mpg really. The 1.4 TSI has been getting mixed reviews about its real life mpg figures so beware.

I've had two 140 DSG cars in the past (GTTDI and A3 ). Both averaged around 44-46mpg overall with brim to brim refills. On a motorway stint at 70-80mph I was seeing 50-52mpg. Town driving tended to be in the high 30's, but never really looked at mpg for purely town driving on brim to brim fills. Each one was remapped and I saw bugg3r all difference in the MPG, but did see more oomph per gallon:D

Right I have got my 2.0 TDI now and I am worried about my fuel consumption too. I have only had it a few days but I am averaging less than 30mpg and I have barely driven it hard!

Today around town I got 22.8mpg on the way home. It was a stop start town drive but that is pretty bad. The Car is over a year old but has only done 4000 miles so the engine isn't fully loose but I am getting a worse MPG than I would have expected with a petrol FR!

are you sure its a 2.0 TDI ??!?!

Like you say I average around 30 in my FR T FSI....

Yeah it is a 2.0 tdi DSG. According to my computer I am now averaing 32mpg in the 95 miles since I have bought it. 35 of them were down the motorway and 70mph but the rest have been around town with varying degrees of traffic.

I am beginning to wonder if maybe the computer is just really innacurate as the fuel guage has only just budged off full after 90 miles so as long as I get around 450 odd miles out of a tank then I will be happy.

No discount from Revo, they manufacture and supply the equipment to garages who then out on the software, I got mine done for £499 at a local fitter and economy improved over standard and it's a very aggressive rempap on my 2.0Tfsi.
Sounds like you have a problem if you're only getting 40mpg out of the TDI, I reckon spend the money and have it remapped, also perhaps try some diesel additives such millers, check tyre pressures etc, amazing how little things affect economy.

1.4tsi will be worse as will the golf's..my old mk5 1.6 was bloody awful. Stick to the 2.0tdi if I were you

best to to it the old method first of all. fill tank up to the hilt, reset trip meter then refill when it needs at least 1/2 a tank full and work out the average mpg. if the reading on the trip computer is wrong it can be adjusted afaik via VAG-COM afaik. i know you cna do it on the MK5 Golf so i see no reason why the average mpg on the Seat is any different.

Well I am still not getting great consumption. I have to admit though that I do drive a 7 mile journey to and from work in the City traffic so it really isn't a good one for fuel consumption. Today I got 27 mpg on the way home :(

The computer is saying that I will get about 440 miles out of the tank still, which I would be happy with. I suppose that I shouldn't really mind as I don't do major miles and as I wanted the DSG gearbox and couldn't afford the FR I was always going to go for the Diesel.
