Hmm not much difference for me...from diesel to petrol then I can get 40MPG at 70mpg cruise control on and err 20 when kinda gun it but yea 40 is my average on my car 1.4 TSi petrol

cus its dsg...iv got the 2.0tdi fr 170bhp and can easily get 50 mpg, autos always use more fuel...

Hi,

The manual says that when you have the instantaneous MPG desplay and your stationary, it will show l/hour of fuel consumption...

Mines doesnt, only " --- MPG" when stationary.
Would be nice to see l/hour for quriosity and to see how much traffic jams cost me in fuel!

I once had a 56 Passat 2.0 TDI about 18 months ago on hire (had only ordered a Ka!!) and it shown l/hour and things like lights, AC, heated windows etc all made a diffirence and it was good to see... reminded you to put off the rear heated window if not needed!!

Does anybody know if this is a desplay option or a VAG-COM option?

Stuart

Ive also a standard 2.0tdi 140 dsg. I do all types of driving and run the tank down and fill it up to the neck

Depends on whether im having a good week or not i get between 380 and 500 miles out of a tank

Not sure what that works out at, high 30's to mid 40's i think :)

I'm astonished that the diesels are only turning this kind of MPG in. Are you driving them conservatively or just normally. If I drive like a nun I can get 33 in the S3, so you must be able to get into high 40's in a TDi otherwise your paying for what??

Admittedly if you cane it you still get 30's+ where I will get 20ish, but I'd not be happy with that kind of figure from a diesel. Especially given the price you pay a litre now.

You're right mate, the TDis should be better. My last tankful, albeit stop start hard town driving was 26mpg for my Altea 140, remapped. Worst its ever been. Time to investigate if there is a fault I think. ( Think "the owl" noise fault might be to blame)
