I'm guessing when you say remove the fault you mean permantely map out the EGR and not just clear the fault code?

Yup, just like Kev did with mine. :D

Showed me how he did it on his laptop, map it out completely.

What a brilliant thread this is, learnt so much! - Wish I had a job like urs Kev.

No problems with fitting it to the SFS kit at all mate, perfect snug fit, infact its an even better fit as the race pipe pulls the SFS kit away from rubbing on the sharp brake fluid bottle top.

My mpg is awful, is it worth me checking my MAF......what block on vag.com is it guys i need to check???

Thanks dude! thats very useful!

I will log those on a run and see how i get on, my MPG is atrocious....is that with a new MAF.

What MAF figures should we expect on a remapped pd150?

Your MPG is the same as mine, i'm averaging 41.1MPG over 6-8months.

Typical MPG on motorways are anywhere between 36-42MPG, thats driving spot on speed limit too - 70MPH.

Round town I can achieve 40MPG if I watch my instant MPG counter and aim for the highest numbers depending on uphill/downhill etc.

My MAF isn't new, but acording to Ross-Tech a healthy MAF on a standard TDI should:-

  • The MAF is OK if the actual value is at least 850-900 mg/h at 3000 rpm in 4th/5th Gear.

I was hoping that someone else with a Stage1 PD150 would post their MAF readings up, so I can compair and contrast MAF/Boost readings.

Here are my logs in 4th Gear Uphill.

For what it's worth......I used to commute 80 motorway miles to work each day and I tried the whole "sticking-to-the-speed-limit-to-save-cash" thing and got an average of 62mpg (yes.... 62mpg) in my PD150 with revo switched on.

At a steady 90mph (on a private road of a very similar length, of course) I'd get 48-50mpg depending on the weather and the amount of people slowing me down and me needing to accelerate past them once they moved over!

thats why the wide differences in MPg really bug me.....i don't think my car is 'right' or very good for a TDI, i often wander what it would achieve unmapped.

the highiest i have every got, thats like 60 for 50miles on a motorway was about 51mpg! that was it, but that was taking it ou of gear on downhills etc!

i don't understand the wide variation we see...

Yes i could do yours for you.

We map out the fault code free of charge if you buy one of our egr replacement pipes, as Chris' post states, the SFS kit fits better with our pipe and stops the silicone pipe rubbing on the brake res.

Thanks :)

They're £49 inc vat i believe...

I'll fit it for £12 inc vat, that also includes mapping out the EGR error aswell :)

Take note though, we're currently out of pipe and expect some to be in within the next week.

Thanks

I wouldnt have thought so, there's no need for it to operate on idle.

It'd be interesting to find out for sure though by taking some readings :)

already done, there is a signal at each gearchange but it is so brief it can't build vac fast enough to move the valve:confused: so god knows why it does p.s. no opperation at idle

Thanks for your input, that saves me plugging up the vac pipe to test it.

Strange that at gear changes it operates!?

Glad no change at idle and tested for it, that means my EGR mod will work no problems when i remove the EGR codes

Kev, do you remove the code using Vagcom then?
