i have a stage 3allard turbo conversion with all the bits n bobs, i have a green pannel filter in the original airbox and was debating getting the cda enclosed filter.
I was wondering if anyone had an enclosed filter on there diesel and if so how does it sound?
As i have a bigger turbo i thought imght get a lot of whistle but its a lot to spend if i dont like the sound or if my filter is a better option.... any sound clips welcome:)

I think that was before he had the Forge fmic.

You wont have any probs with heat soke with your front mount.

My filter is stone cold even after a 2 hour spirited drive :D

I've an BMC CDA and it sound exactly the same as before with the oem air box, altough it revs quicker from lower rpm.

Cheers

my bmc cda gives off a nice beep tone, sounds loads better than it did before i got it.

there might be some sound clips on youtube scooty22?!

At the end of the day, the air being taken into the engine should be cold. That's why in fog (when's the air in thicker and there's more oxygen in the air) and when it's like freezing outside, your car SHOULD seem to go ALOT better. I know my car certainly pulls alot better in the cold.

I know when I had my K&N 57i induction kit, it sounded AWESOME! Used to make a loud sucking noise even under light throttle! Sounded proper "tuned" and nice! But it did smoke alot more too.....

Ph2858 (Or Tall-Pall) as he's now known put an open cone filter on his big turbo Ibiza derv, he said it sounded awesome but wasn't worth it.....there was too much loss in power and increase in smoke.

It's up to you mate....try it by all means! You can always sell them on. But i would go for enclosed unit if you were to go for one.

is this because it still gives the cold air yet some of the sound/whistle im after?

Yerp! ;) Should have a more "free flowing" air feed than the standard setup and a bit more bark to it. And IF it sounds like my 57i did, you'll have miles of smiles. :D

I miss the sound of it so much now.....but my car is better off without it.
