To be honest, 18s on a a standard /fr / cupra etc..

19s only really look good with the aero kit..

heres mine

I'd say 18"s - I do quite a few miles and didn't want to sacrifice too much comfort - cost of replacement tyres is a factor too.
Mines approx 25mm lower on 18"'s and I think it looks just right :)

just got my self a black magic fr witht he 17s which are alright but want to upgrade what to people think 18s or 19s and any surgestions on alloys

I had 19" for a few years but I recently went back to 18" 4 months ago.

Gives a better ride in my opinion.

Another vote for 19's, but they will cost you in rubber and you can't skimp on the rubber either. That doesn't bother me because I do not do the mileage where I would be replacing them all too often.

The ride isn't too bad even on stock suspension, but mine will be replaced this year mainly because the stock stuff goes all limp after a couple of years anyway.

I also think it proves if you have the right wheels you don't need a done to death Aero kit. :cartman:

I have 17's on the fr tdi and looking to change them (still undecided on 18's or 19's) as have 19's on my mk1 and forever dodging holes but still hit the occasional one, but love the look of them.
But definately want to lower the car around 30-35mm, but only springs at the moment. Recomendations on which ones to go for please! Looking about the 200-250 mark.
Also if i lowered 35mm on 19's can i expect scraping problems? Cheers all

Bearing in mind 19's will be heavier, and cost a fair bit more on tyres.

^^^^^^^^
What he said.

Also consider that 19's with the 35 profile tyres are going to be more prone to pot hole damage, kerbing etc.

Got to be honest, there is good and bad to both really and think im gonna find it hard to decide. Tyres are coming down for 19's (were crazy prices!!!) and will continue the way that manufacturers are increasing the wheel size on models every year (surprising how many cars come with 18's standard and used to be unheard of).

Oh what am i blabbering on about im gonna put 19's on it and lower it 35mm lol. God i talk myself to sleep sometimes  :D
