Hi

I have a 52 plate Leon 1.9 TDi and occasionally loose boost. After restarting the engine the problem goes away and the car runs as normal. i have been told that this is a sticky wastegate and can be refurbed or a new turbo.

What id like to know is what the options are. It hasnt completely gone but id like to get it sorted before it does go and i have no boost wat so eva!

My thoughts were:

1. New turbo (same as the one on there) or
2. Have the one on the car refurbished or
3. get a better turbo

Has anyone had theirs refurbed only to come across the same problem 6 months later, and all it would do is delay the problem?

And what turbos fit the car? How much bigger can i go without changing other parts etc!?

Any help would be appreciated!!!!!

Cheers

if you went for a hybrid turbo it will cost thousands because you will have to upgrade everything else like suspension/brakes/fmic/exhaust etc what engine have you got???

Had the exact same problem, i just cleaned my turbo (it was full of everything) and closed the EGR vent. Now the car runs smooth again.
