I hope you don't mind me asking about the drop links/anti roll links for my 1999 Toledo in here, i just think it'll get more replies and the front ends of the Leon and Toledo are the same anyway.

I think the drop links need changing on my car as i'm getting a knocking over slight bumps, but there doesn't seem to be any play in the steering or wheels when i checked them by hand. For the price i figured they might as well be changed.

Does anyone have a quick guide to help me out please? How difficult of a job is it to do on my own?

Thanks for your help.:)

Haha iv just started a similar thread on this!! Im thinking of doing the ARB bushes and drop links tomorrow on the same job, seems to be quite easy to be honest, just a couple of bolts each side!

Well it looks simple enough in theory. I have never attempted drop links on any car before though.

Where are you getting the droplinks from and how much? I've seen people on ebay selling them for £20 for both!

Are they actually knackered or are they knocking because its lowered and the ARB is hitting on driveshaft? If so you want the adjustable ones like i've just bought

Yeh mines only lowered 35mm, but would i get a wibbly knock over bumps when braking being this much lower?

vwspares for comparison are 7.65 a side for links and 1.85 a side for the bushes!

Wow so the droplinks are always quite cheap then? I'm new to VAG cars so wasn't sure on the prices for parts. They're reassuringly quite cheap compared to the french parts. :)Had 4 cars in total, a 106 1.1, a 306 1.6, a 306 Dturbo, and now the V5.

Yeh they seem to be quite cheap, il be putting the metal ones on mine, rather than the plastic ones they also make and some new bushes. Its definately not a hard job, just awkward, but very do-able on a sunny day!

Good luck

What's so awkward about it?? I already have the metal ones currently fitted [B)]

Wit wooooo lol, apparently its just a bit fiddly working behind the disc thats all, nothin to drastic!

Il let you know tomorrow as im gonna do mine,

Well i started the job, and it ended abruptly, i sliced my hand open trimming the bushes, so off i trotted to A&E to be seen to!

I've got pics so far, so il upload all together when the job gets finished!

Haha i replaced my plastic ones with metal ones, that and a combination of the powerflex bushes has made a noticeable difference in ride and cornering!

Jimski

Jimski, would you say it would be fine to replace my plastic oe droplinks that have done 108k with the metal ones in the link??
