Today searching for a clutch kit for my 02M, i found two options that at the beginning, may look the same, but have a different flywheel(type)!!!!!!! (the two companies say that fits directly the 02M gearboxes)

The first one:
http://fourseasontuning.com/?product=591
this kit uses a single mass flywheel.

The second one:
http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?make=Volkswagen&engine=1.8T&model=337/20AE&submodel=&category=Drivetrain&subcategory=Clutch
this kit uses a dual mass flywheel.

SO!!!!!! what should i buy????? which flywheel is the OEM?????

i brought a genuine LUK Clutch and flywheel from GSF car parts. if you are going down the standard route just get a genuine one or LUK as thats what is used as genuine but you will find when they are stamped up vw audi seat they wiill be twice the price.

dont know what bhp they are ok untill but i imagine around 300 as most people have a remap and mods making it up to near 270s 80s and havnt heard of many problems on a LCR. if there is too much movement in the dual mass flywheel then change it, if you prefer.. and cheaper to change to a single mass then that can be done and save a few quid maybe. also change the slave cylinder/release bearing which is in one. as if this goes and starts leaking it means gearbox off again. less than £ 30-40 from stealers

I think a single mass flywheel cause a chatter at idle.

jwfcms - Do you mind me asking how much you paid for the clutch and flywheel? I'm facing a new gearbox (3rd gear is whining) and while it was being changed I was going to change the clutch. Not 100% sure if its worth changing the flywheel though. I have no reason to believe that its got alot of play in it.

Cheers, Matt

God knows Tim. Wouldn't know where to have it done or how much it would cost. Plus I cant really be without the car, makes life difficult!! The whole car is getting right on my t*ts at the moment to be honest.

I've found a company down south that is doing a fully refurnished O2M box for £595 +VAT. Add the clutch, release bearing and maybe a flywheel.....going to be expensive!!

Matt.

I will change it if its necessary. The vag gearboxes are know for damage the flywheel when the clutch is worn out!
