Folks, checking in from Norn Iron for what is a rather long thread dedicated to what started out as a daily work horse doing 18k miles a year into a phunky daily work cow doing 18k a year:

Bought this 1.9 TDi in January 2008 mainly as I like practical cars and economy, I wanted a car that would stand out so the yellow certainly fitted the bill and with my photography equipment and motorsport following an estate was just perfect for me

Bought it, washed, polished and took these

CD player added

I then de-badged all round and done S in grill matte black

since this I have added a new CD player and awesome components, matte blacked the TDi in the grill and made the dot of the "I" yellow, added a lot more stickers to the rear 1/4 windows which I plan to have filled with motorsport / car related stickers by Christmas oh and I bolted a tow bar on too for those times when I could find one useful lol

thoughts and comments appreciated, and I know it'd look better with dish and lowering but following the Irish rallies and driving round forest roads makes this potion not do-able :(

The bug has finally bitten; its jaws are locked so here goes with creating the "Eurdoba Vario-Different"

Bought these the other night, 15" 1000 Miglia's, 7" wide, ET28, and look great, uber rare & slightly retro, they are getting blasted then treated to some fresh yellow & silver paint, Yellow spokes & Silver dishes

cordoba23.jpg

cordoba24.jpg

Then coilovers in New Year, once the coils are in the wheels will be going on, is it wrong that I am excited?

Wheels blasted and ready for primer

Wheels now have silver lippage and a crack welded shut thankfully
cordoba27.jpg

Also left the template in to get flat centre pieces made up for Ginga to whackey airbrush hehe

We now have some "as close to the yellow of the car" paint added to the spokes

The image courtesy of Nokia is pish for colour representation but it will have to do, they were a complete ***** to mask off so will be rough looking I think once complete but hopefully not ;)

They are full of runs and not a great finish (rattle cans just don't cut it but cheaper than buying paint lol) SO will be scouring and cutting them tomorrow before a final two coats of colour are added then all being well ready for some lacquer!

cordoba28.jpg

And a quick shop as to what they will look like on with some coils added YE HA
cordoba29.jpg

Centre caps collected today, perfect fit and didn't break the bank either so wont be long till Ginga has his evil ways with them and we have came up with something ridiculously daft

cordoba30.jpg

Yes the are Perspex HAHA

One centre cap airbrushed, three more to go, Chris has done an amazingly outstanding job as per usual, his work just gets better and better

cordoba39.jpg

Wheels complete, the silver is just sitting drying as I type :) so just waiting on the coils arriving with Chris then get them lashed in ;)

Coilovers collected and getting fitted tomorrow afternoon

cordoba43.jpg

And the backs of wheels done in satin matte black

cordoba42.jpg

I sold the graphite alloys so was able to put 4 new 195/45/15 Toyo's on as I think the lower profile would work much better

Up to Lisburn to get new tyres, happy days, perfect job and onto Steve’s to get the coilovers fitted. With the right tools and a mechanic who knows what he is at it was a very quick and easy task, this is the front end complete

cordoba44.jpg

then we done the rear and had them on the floor but it was way too low for a daily driver so raised it a good bit until I get a sump guard made up and pull the plastic engine tray off from the underside

Then realised one wheel was flat, oh no, panic stations so took it back to the tyre depot and they put a new valve into it, came home, fitted the wheel and in the last 3 hours of sitting in drive and slipping about the local area it's still inflated so hopefully it was just a faulty valve :)

After saying a couple of nights ago that I had done all I wanted and that the car was finished I have another small update on the build so far, whoops:

12" Pioneer TS-W307D2 (1200w) sub bought and place into a small box
cordoba60.jpg

Then the Kenwood KAC-6203 2ch (600w) amp screwed to the side of box
cordoba61.jpg

Have one of these on order for the sub box to fill the hole from a previous terminal cup
tb1.jpg

Raleigh Burner BMX is stripped ready to be shot blasted to remove paint & rust before it goes back to it's original white & blue to be hung in my bedroom as a retro heritage piece

cordoba62.jpg

Have a black Mongoose BMX now to use on the car at shows etc and to ride come the better weather & BBQ’s etc which will have the forks and bars done yellow with some yellow vinyl on the frame :)

The car is booked in for Wednesday 18th Feb to get the coilovers wound down more, with the front getting screwed down the most, then alignment / camber is all getting done, so by lunch time Wednesday the car should be as good as completed once and for all.

Finally got the sub and amp into the car and it really compliments the Alpine Type R components up front and sounds truly magnificent, I'd forgot just how much difference a sub makes.

Once I got the sub all hooked up and in place I gave the boot a good Hoover and dosed the whole thing sub box and all, in Satin Matte Black aerosol to take the faded black look off it and she is like new again, got to love the old school valeting tricks :)

cordoba63.jpg

"Audioshack" was back in the day when I started driving and the mate done installs as a hobby, such good memories it had to go onto this box
cordoba64.jpg

Found a rear number plate holder in the mates garage so just had to have it, removed the dealer logo and got this vinyl cut and stuck on there

Finally the best picture I have of the car ;)

Got my local valeter to give the car a good buff and wax today, and then as I was doing a planned panoramic photo shoot of a famous graffiti piece in Belfast I seized the opportunity as one would ;)

Comments good, bad or indifferent welcome
If someone doesn’t like it give me a reason as I am keen to know what doesn’t work

Many thanks for looking and “keep ‘er lit”!

Well she is parked up in Ian Bishops workshop now for some pampering, it's long overdue an oil change so the treacle will come out and be replaced along with the filter and then she is going as low as possible without ruining the function of the suspension components (too low means it will drive like a bag and i do too many miles to drive a bag) then the camber / alignment getting set and hey presto she is complete :)

Well folks HUGE thanks to Ian Bishops Motorsport, Ballygowan : 07711368550

Left the car out to him to get:
ride height set all round
camber / alignment set
oil & filter change

have to say the man is a perfectionist, and found a few other minor problems when working on the car so he also rectified them, the car now drives great and Ian charges the same as most garages, the difference is he has many years experience being very fussy whilst serving his time at prodrive subaru and this reflects in his work on normal cars which is what he has just set up his new garage to do.

Image of the car which is now down a lot more at the front, still very drivable but just need to have caution with bumps and especially back roads

cordoba66.jpg

Also got yellow cow pattern to go onto the mongoose BMX :) yellow pedals & tyres will be coming for it too lol

cheers
