I know the ibiza 1.9 fr is known for eating the inner edges of tyres - but mine has bald inner edges after 6000 miles!!! and no they aint cheap nd nasty tyres, Bridgestone sport max at £80-£90 a tyre.

Car was tracked when the tyres were fitted and again about 1000 miles ago when I hit a kerb and knocked it out.

I have also spotted some liquid under the car smells a bit like powersteering fluid, but am unable to check as I dont have deformed arms to reach the reservoir cap.

Anyone got any ideas?

If you haven't had a full four wheel alignment (toe, camber, thrust, caster) then I'd recommend it. They can adjust everything, giving you before and after print outs. I've got 25k out of my front tyres since replacing and being aligned, although a fair amount of that is motorway its still much better than 15k from my first set.

If the tracking is OK, and the tyres are still wearing at that rate, it either means you are driving like a nut job - or more likley the bushes have gone. I suggest you take it to a garage to have them checked, and if they are gone get them to replace them with the cupra ones, which wear far better than the standard ones.

How much did the full four wheel alignment cost, did you get it done at a dealer?

Had cupra rear bushed fitted last year before fitting these tyres- also had polybushed fitted to the ARB and front wishbone...

Any ideas on the powersteering leak? have done a quick search and can't see many people with problems

The way to get to the power steering reservoir is by taking the battery and the battery tray out. I just check the level when I have the front bumper off though, as you can see straight into it. It might be worth removing the undertray and having a look round to see if you can spot where the leak is.

Had 4 wheel alignment done at a place that is reputable in that job (many have equipment and cannot use it). It eats front inside edges just as quick as it ever did. (Cupra tdi so has hard bushes). This is from 7k to 50k so not knackered bushes. Driving is mostly a dual carriageway comute and while I do like corners I would am not nut casing it.. so it is still beyond a joke; 12k is about it .. which can extend to 17k if you like steel for traction It is only the inside edge so you get away with the 75% over 1.6mm for a while but I believe you need visible tread everywhere so that is probably not true when you get to steel! This is staying with the poop P Zeros (but they work in snow unlike F1 and T1S).

Mk4 Golfs do the same .. I think all VAG's of this age do it with wide tyres.

driving like a nut-case around bends will most likely eat the outer edges more than the inside...the inner edge shouldn't be wearing quicker and can only mean bushes are gone or camber is out

my tracking is a tad out but is wearing evenly still and got loads of tread left after 13k miles on pzeros...just to show that wheel alignment and camber are different

when you say wide tyres, how wide have you gone?
also dropping the ride height will camber the tyres inwards which could also be a cause
