Hi, im just new on here and looking for some advise,

I recently had a golf gti 1.8 T and had a remap put onto it, i also changed the air filter and diverter valve (forge 007p) shortly after this the car just had problem after problem, it started with a new clutch then it was just eating starter motors for fun about 4 in total. It got to the point that i sold the car for a massive loss.

Now i have a leon and want to remap again but were the above problems from not upgrading properly or do we think these problems were always going to happen with or without the remap ???

What Mods do i need to consider to not damage my leon at all ??

Thanks

Andy

Cant really give you much advice as im not the best under the bonnet but welcome to scn!!

Im sure the brainy bunch will be along soon.

the car wont need any modding to take a stage 1 remap the car can be completely standard but i would advise changing the dump valve as standard crap bosch ones break down. just make sure you have remap done by a reputable company theres loads of companies on here that will remap your car for a reosonable price i have a leon 1.8t fr which is standard apart from a split r diverter valve[dump valve] i had it remaped by a company called performance torque wich took my car from 180 standard up to 205bhp ive had map on for 3months now without any bother at all she never misses a beat

Best recommendation - get your car a "health-check" before you do anything to it.

Perhaps get it on an RR, and get it serviced if it's due - if it's hitting standard figures and working well, then go ahead with the remap (as suggested a 007p DV if you haven't already got one is virtually a must) and you'll be fine.

As with all power-type modifications - you're pushing the components more than the manufacturer actually intended for - so bits will wear out quicker.

a good mapper will do this prior to remap anyway. diagnostic check first.
