Leon Cupra 1.9 TDi badging / calipers

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum. I just bought a 2004 Leon Cupra 1.9 TDi (150) in gunmetal grey, which came with the 18" Cupra R alloy wheels. At the moment, I am totally loving the car but I want to make a few modifications.

Firstly, I'd just like to say that i'm not overly car savvy, so pardon my ignorance with some of my questions.

The first modification I want to make is to add an FR front wing badge to either side. I have found some on eBay (which I believe are reps) for a few quid. I wanted to know the positioning of exactly where these badges would go on an FR. So if anyone does have an FR, perhaps you can add some pictures or give me some measurements in reference to the wing indicator lights?

The second modification I want to make is to add Red brackets (not sure what they are called - calipers I think :s), which can be seen through the alloys. They look very sporty and give the car that "va va voom" look. I hope i'm making sense. If anyone knows what they are actually called and which ones would be best to get, that would be much appreciated.

PS I was after an FR, but the ones that were on sale around the country were just way out of my budget - so I settled for the Cupra, so hence the desire to add the FR badges!

First and foremost welcome to SeatCupra.net, good to have you on here.

I would say check out the readers rides section as there are quite a few FRs which you can see to get correct location of the bades.

As for adding red calipers. This is essentially a big brake upgrade. Have a read through my readers ride thread (click on my Leon FR sig link). There is an index so you can jump to upgrades I have done on the project.

Incidentally, I need to get my car serviced in another 1000 miles or so - do you know how much it costs roughly from a SEAT dealership? I know from the SH that the cambelt was changed on 79k (it's now on 97k), so I should think it'd be a routine service.

If was you I wouldnt bother getting a service at a SEAT dealership as generally you can get better service for a lot less money from the tuners who sponser the site on here. See here: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=127

However if you wish to have a full SEAT service history. Although if your thinking of modding the car then in my opinion there isnt much point.

Whoa, that braking system is quite steep - I think i'll have to wait 'til next month's pay cheque comes through to get those! lol They look super cool, though!

As for the sponsored garages, I can't seem to find one in or around the Birmingham area. If you know of any in this area, that'd be great. Thanks.

I service mine myself, theres a parts dealer around the corner and got all the bits for sub £40! Also check to see when the last time your air filter was changed as when i did mine it made a heap of difference.

Really? That's cheap!

So which parts are required for the service? I know you need to change the oil, oil filter and air filter? What other things need doing? Also, is tehre a way of resetting the 'service' indicator that flashes up when you turn the ignition on?

For my last service i got a oil filter, Air filter, pollen filter, and a bottle of quatum platnium oil for £36.96

All genuine vw/seat parts

Regarding the brake calipers, why not just paint your ones yourself?

There are various "special" kits you can buy to paint them, but I just used Red Hammerite lol, does the job Just make sure you buy heat resistent paint as they get quite hot!

Firstly, welcome to the madhouse RVP09.

Yeah, just paint them. If your happy with the performance of your brakes, why upgrade them?

I did mine with an E-Tech Caliper Paint kit (available from a well known auction site, although other online retailers are available )

With correct preparation, you get a pretty good finish, and as yet I have had no flaking or chipping.
