Put your reg into ECP andn look under engine sensors. Lat time i looked they are aboput £50-£70quid.
Right I've just been down to ECP and picked up a front, right ABS speed sensor! Thought I'd buy it first before I pull everything apart, I can take it back if it's wrong.
Bought the Febi Bilstein, OEM equivalent. After I've had some lunch I'll try fitting it...

Really easy.
The old one will be pretty stuck due to being in there since the car was new (unless its been changed before)
Lace it in WD40 and prise it out with a flat blade screwdriver and a hammer.
I butchered my old one taking it out.
The new one will also be abit awkward when fitting, it seemed with mine that the new sensor may have been too big for the hole, I basically just used sandpaper to take off some of the plastic on the new sensor (you will know what I mean) until it fitted snugly.
All in all it took me about 20minutes.
Cheers for the info Alex, so its wheel off, is the sensor located near the break caliper? Got any pics? I might just wait for some dry weather and whip the wheel off and have a look.

Sods law the heavens opened as soon as I took the wheel off!
Gave the sensor a good look over and it appeared 'ok'? Went to remove it anyway, but the bolt holding it in place was very corroded and was difficult to see it's an allen key or a torque?
It looked like a 6mm allen key but it just rounded off with only slight pressure it was that old
Anyway checked both sides and they were covered in metal shavings, I'm guessing thats normal considering what they do, so gave them a good clean but will have to find a better day so I can get the discs off to tap them out.
Lights are still on...

If your bolts are in good nick then no, but I'm guna have to cut the head off and tap it through! So I'll need to take the discs off...
You cant miss the sensors, just look behind the disk, you will see the cable going to it.
Its not a disc off jobbie if you prise it out.
If you wanted to knock it out from the other side you would have to remove the disc and abs ring, its really not necessary.
Its just self explanatory once you see it.
Ok i understand now. Will get the sensor ordered next week and give it a go. I presume you need to clear the code with VAG com to make the abs/tcs light go away after you fit the sensor?
Nope, the ABS system self checks the sensors every time you start the car and drive off, so the light will clear when you hit about 10mph after the sensor has been fitted.
My sensor was about £9 off ebay, not genuine but its been on the car for 9months without a problem

I've had no time since I bought the sensor and it's been fine up until today. Very un-nerving in this weather! I'm guna have to get a garage to have a look, no way i can do it at the moment.
