Hi Everyone, Very in experienced and dont know if im in the right place, to cut a long story short, i drove a Seat Leon FR 1.9 a few year back, (older shape) and i thought it was probably the best drive iv had yet. I've seen the new shape and think these look much better inside and look so much more comfortable, i am currently in a position to buy, but not entirely sure what price bracket im looking for without being ripped off! so can someone help me on a price and where to go for the best deals up north (newcastle area). looking for an approx spec as below:

age: 2006 +
milage: 30.000 +
Black in colour
TDI FR Model (must be 6 speed)
cruise control would be nice but not essential
sat nav included would be nice also but again not essential.

What price are we looking for as a used model. NOT NEW! Sorry if this seems like a stupid post but im just wanting idea's. thats all.

Many thanks to those who help.
Stephen

The first thing to do is go and get a test drive as the MKII FR has much firmer suspension that is not to everyones taste improved on the FL version 09 onwards.

As for price you are looking at 11-12K for an 06 plate and 13-14K fo an 07 plate at a dealer. Depends on how much you have to spend and what sort of deal you can do.

I thought cruise was standard on the MKII FR I am sure somebody will come along and confirm or deny this along with recomendatios were to buy in your area. Main dealer is always a good first stop but worth visiting and looking at a few before yo buy.

Thank you for the reply. Although i'm probs the worst at haggling, i couldnt even get any money knocked off shoes in a shop! haha! never mind a car! lol. any haggling tips?

If you are going in with "cash" and arent after Finance then there should be alot of moving room on the price

Especially at the moment when dealers want to make sales , if they give you a final price then say nah il fink about it , i bet they will move again

Whos your local Dealer?

my local dealer is SG Petch in County Durham. But yeah i was thinking of going in and paying on my bank card, and pay it off in full....thats pretty much the same as going in with cash isnt it? apparantly they also have a business dealer center. you know of them? and do they give good deals?

Yeh paying on card is same as cash , Basically aslong as uve got the money it doesnt matter if its a card or paper money or coins

Never heard of them TBH im in Cheshire me self and MK

Hmmm ahhh well never mind, although, its just been mentioned that the suspension is more firmer, how rough a ride is the new leons now then? its not a feel every grain and pothole and stones kinda ride now is it?

The ride is quite firm, but not that bad, it's better than in my 911, and I now prefer having 2 cars that don't feel like they're going to topple over when I go round corners :D

Cruise control was also standard on my 58 reg (for sale now but Candy White!) so not sure when it became standard.

how much u offering the newbie for it? lol. yeah i suppose the firmer the suspension the more stability u have on it, but im going to be using this for alot of motorway miles, so it needs to be a comfortable ride.

You deffo need a long test drive maybe worth just fininding one even if it is not to your spec/price just to have a good run. As for haggling I would go for about 1K off a main dealer usually has a 1-2K markup from the trade in value. Now is a good time as sales are weaker and dealers still want to shift stock.

Suspension on The Leon FR was alot nicer than My Ibiza when i test drove her the other day

My Ibiza is slammed low on FK Highsport Coilovers and that gives a very harsh ride

I bought mine with the intention that it would rack up a lot of motorway miles and those it has are 70%+ motorway miles and it really is good there.....less potholes so smoother ride and I'm on the optional 18's. And the added power is really useful, so I'd say you'd fine.

Mine's up at £14K, but 58 reg and Candy White not Black I'm afraid!

Leather seats are a must!!! if you're looking at second hand, you wont pay much more, if anything for the optional extras so try and shop around.
i bought a 57 FR 170 in september with leather, climate control and 18" wheels.
i got a really good deal, less than 20K miles and less than £13k to buy.
oh, and the cruise control is standard, but im not sure about the digital dual climate control?

Climate control is standard on all MKII FR's.

In my experience there will be very few FR's with leather seats....this was not a factory option (not when I ordered my 58) and only a dealer option and they were £2,500 so I can't see many people going for them.

Until the one above I had not seen or heard of an FR with leather seats.

Cruise control and Climate control were standard on the FR, along with power fold mirrors, multi-function steering wheel, multi-function trip computer, more supportive seats, ESP and tyre pressure monitoring :)

I bought my FR550 (limited edition) in March this year for £14k after getting £1k knocked off, it's on 08 plate and had 3,000 miles on at the time. The car was an ex-demo but was in perfect condition when purchased. I don't mind the bumpy ride because at the end of the day, I've got all that power.
I got an evaluation on my car from another dealer the other week, I've had my wheels powder coated black, Cupra grill and mirror covers and they offered me £12,900 for it with 22,000 miles on the clock. So in 10 months or so, I haven't lost that much :)

ill try and take a few snaps of them later, they really are amazingly comfortable, IMO much better than your sport seats like recaros... and ive had a few of them in my time!

The leather seats are the same as the standard seats - it's just a re-trim.

£1250 for just the seat trim or £1500 for seats and door trim if memory serves.
