Read some threads on here about the EGR valve and disconnecting it will stop crud building up in inlet manifold. I got a 2001 leon 110tdi found the N18 connector from EGR valve so disconnected it went out for a spin felt abit more responsive but after about 10min of engine running my oil light came on yellow colour stopped opened bonnet had a look couldn't see anything odd so shut it again turned ignition on and the light is still coming on yellow this only since I disconnected the egr
Is there any way around this?

Yellow oil light means the oil level is low, did you check your oil?

hi mj thanks for reply checked the oil level and its ok. I thought this light was relating to the EML or is that another light its odd how its only started doing it since I just disconnected the egr though.

The Engine Management Light looks like a little sewing machine and is yellow where as the oil light looks like a little oil can and is usually red make sure which one it is, on some models it will throw a fault up where as on others it wont.

Hi no its defo the oil light when I turn ignition on comes on red first then i'll get 1 beep and the oil light will be solid yellow. I read on here that it could be due to low oil pressure which is abit worrying but it was only serviced in October this year where it had a full oil and filter change and also cambelt. Gather it could also be a faulty level sensor but from what I read the yellow light will flash if its this?

if its low oil pressure it'll stay red then flash, is the oil level definatly ok? if so then yes i could be the sensor and it might just be coincidence that it died after you removed the egr pipe.

thanks for the help MJ sorted it! before I went to gym earlier I turned ignition on oil light come on. I read on here about the sensor being on the bonnet catch (no idea where I was looking, opened bonnet and started pulling on bonnet catch up down up down closed the bonnet pressing firmly went back inside car while still running and lo and behold the oil light had now disappeared! weeeeee drove it down to gym parked up turned car of turned ignition on again to check and no more yellow oil light is coming on so I guess must be a bonnet switch or something

Seriously mate, the bonnet switch would not trigger the oil light, i dont even think yours would have an oil level sensor in the sump

could it be a dual a warning lamp ie to warn you that you hadn't shut the bonnet correctly - or the switch/contact was sticky?

Example the glow plug lamp is used to show you glow plug operation and flashing one can also indicate glow plug failure as well as a breaklight out...

benhampshire sounds like you could be right there then possible light to tell me the bonnet wasn't shut properly.

Yellow oil lamp means level too low. Flashing yellow means the level sensor is defective.

Opening the bonnet resets the oil level warning (the yellow light should go out). If you don't do anything about it, the warning will come on again after a few miles.

It's mildly unusual for a diesel Leon to have the oil level/temperature sensor in the bottom of the sump. I think they were only fitted to cars meant for long-life servicing, where you wait for an indicator to light up before changing the oil.

My previous 51 plate toledo 110tdi had an oil level sensor in the bottom of the sump. My current 04 pd130 also has.

ok bit of a coincidence? been to gym tonight as I got back in car to drive home turned ignition on all dash lights started to go out then I noticed the oil light start flashing yellow afew times then it went out turned ignition off and back on and it didn't do it but from what I gather a flashing yellow oil light means faulty level sensor and as you can see lately been getting a yellow oil light coming on so is the sensor dying it was really cold out tonight though like -2.5 c

where do I find the oil level sensor is it hard to replace?

Ok I am just thinking this is a common seat fault from what I seen and unless the oil light goes red then just sod it

Flashing yellow means defective sensor. Change it.

Steady yellow means low oil. REALLY low oil. Stop and put some in right away.

Red means low oil pressure. Never a good sign.
