Hi,

I have just got in after a 250 mile drive with my new toy . . . an Ovni Yellow, '05, 1.9 tdi FR.

I must admit it has been a while since i had such fun in a car, as I have had to put up with my girlfriend's 1.6 automatic Clio (what a beast, ha ha)!

The only problem is that the rear washer seems to have stopped working since I collected it and I am not sure if this is due to the pump or the jet connection. As I need to check this tomorrow, can anyone offer me some advice as to where the connection is; as it seems from the forum that this is a common fault?

Also, a noise which I first thought was the turbo - a slight knocking/sucking noise when I accelerate - seems to now be worrying me that it could be a loose manifold, turbo etc. Where would I look to check for a loose turbo!?

Finally, I am looking to get cruise-control and a auto-dimming rear view mirror fitted, but not sure of the best places to look/contact. Any links to previous posts would be sweet.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

The rear washer cable came disconnected on mine, my mate did it for me though but he said he just had to reconnect it (i cant remember if it was on inside of boot panel or under the carpet). The previous owner had disconnected it from the washer tank as well though so check both places if it still wont work.

the rear washer pipe is a common thing with all mk4's.

a guy close retro fitted my cruise for me and he's done a damn good job (ali at Unit 18) only cost £180 all in but northampton might be a bit of a trek for you

Cheers for that guys.

I will check the book lid and under the carpet in the boot to see if I can find the connections.

I was in Nottingham yesterday and Oxford today, looking at FR's, so not that far; about 150ish miles I think.

won't be under the carpet...search for the sticky on removing the boot panel as there's a few hidden screws before tugging off

oxford is an 1hrs drive from northampton up the a43, if you want the crusie retro fitted, best guy around to do it, he only only uses VAG parts an all

Must admit loving the low down torque that the car has to offer. Just a shame all the roads are covered in snow and icy :-(

Want to check see if anyone could clarify if the red discs in the door cards are reflectors or are meant to illuminate when the doors are opened?

Also, my side repeaters have started to fill with condensation / water. How do you remove then to clear them out and stop this happening again?

Cheers in advance.

my rear washer stopped working, the pump was working and the water was coming out under the engine/gearbox side.

i took the airbox out and found that the connection pipe had popped off. Snapped it back into place and i havent had anymore problems :)

Condensation is a common fault, all the seals are petty **** on the mk4s i drive along the motorway thinking my windows open the wind whistles in that much.

My condensation just goes away depending on the weather lol
