Whats it worth

I have had my FR170 TDi for almost three years and have seen the dfp light only 4 times (each time dealt with by a quick scoot on a nearby bypass).

For me its a no brainer, as I do more than 20K miles a year.

TDI BENEFITS
Fuel - 25-30% more miles per tank, for fuel cost around 1% more than petrol
Cheaper tax (my bill is £150 for 12 months)
Cheaper insurance (Band 12 only)
Cheaper servicing (at Ted Johnson in Barnsley - great team)
Higher residuals (the yellow probably helps)
After 50K, exhaust now has a great continual burble note.

PETROL BENEFITS
Engine and exhaust sound great
No dpf issues
Great if you can afford to run it and would have the Cupra over the FR

In summary, its my first diesel car after SAAB and BMW petrols and and have no regrets whatsoever - bring on the mk3 Leon

Hope this helps and enjoy, whichever way you go....

^ That sounds great Mike, i totally agree. :D

I do quite a few miles to work and back each day (mainly motorway).
But if I did drive less miles, I'd have (also) opted for the Cupra. Who knows what the future holds! ;)

I went for the diesel as that's all I've ever driven and I used to do a lot of miles. I now probably do around 15k so I'm wondering if it should've been the cupra now! I've never had a problem with the dpf though.

Recently the fuel bill's been getting on for 60... seems higher and higher every month :S

Diesel Particulate Filter ?

It's a cool feature that you get with the Diesel FR, that converts your BHP (Break Horse Power) into "Pony Power". ;)

Release the DPF to unleash the full potential of the Diesel FR's, has been done a handful of time here, from what i've read.

But Im sure you already know that. :)
