Right, so I went and got my FR TDI remapped by P-Torque last week (which was great) but having travelled 75 miles up the road the pipe that connects to the bottom of the intercooler (the 90° rubber bit) popped off and damaged itself.

So, I went up to Ted Johnson - who did a great job of getting the bit overnighted to them - and I bought a replacement pipe. This is now awaiting a clip (as mine eirther never had one or it got lost) and I hope to fit it tomorrow and I was wondering if it is possible to strenghten the connection to the intercooler at all and how best to do it? i thought Jubilee clips, but it desn't appear that would work.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Oddly enough i had mine remmapped by p-torque a few days before you. I was on a trip to the Isle of Man this weekend and on the second day the 90 degree boost pipe on top on the engine popped off... ended my weekend there for me as it wouldnt stay on.

Ha! That's mad! Sorry to hear it ended your weekend though - I was lucky enough to get the AA man to come out and sort it, which he did with an old coat hangar :p and I only had 30 miles to go to get to my mates house, although I couldn't go for a drive in the Peak district like I wanted to and the 220 miles home yesterday was a bit sketchy as I thought every noise could be something bad :(

I'm just hoping the replacement pipe lasts, although I still want to add some strength to the joins.

Pretty annoying as all the honda civics didnt miss a beat... time to go type r methinks.

i took it easy on the round-trip to p-torque...and when booking my car in for 2nd year's service i told the mechanic to check all the boost pipes and clips just to make sure it's all healthy

touch wood nothing has happened yet and it been just under a month

my cousin recently popped his boost pipe in his Leon FR+ and he's running it standard

I bought mine with 3 self tapping screws through the join, holds it on nice :p
