Have you considered the 1.6 CR TDI instead? The old 1.4 PD TDI in the ecomotive is noisy, less refined and a bit sluggish. I believe it is due to be replaced with the new 1.2 CR TDI at some point this year.

My sisters polo has the PD 1.4 engine. Its strange, its a pretty nice drive but sounds a little like a sewing machine. Stupidly good on fuel though.

I've seen quite a few complaints at the 1.6CR not being great on fuel, they take a while to bed in.

The 1.6 isn't great on fuel round town, the ecomotive is.

It's bloody noisy though and i don't like the plasticy rubbery spikey bumpy bit at the bottom of the steering wheel.

That said, it is very comfy (i'm half considering sourcing some SE seats to replace the Sports seats in mine, as i think im a bit too chubby to fit in them properly )
With the softer suspension on the ecomotive you can also do bumpy corners quicker/more confidently (or perhaps it just felt quicker/was quicker as it wasn't mine) and VERY good on fuel, I had one as a courtesy car for the day, same miles as my 1.6tdi, where mine will manage 30-35 on a round town run, the ecomotive would do 45-50 and thats with me trying to show myself that it wasn't really that economical and my 1.6 was only a little worse on fuel.

It's much worse on fuel, but it's also nicer to sit in, nicer to look at and more fun to drive.

depends what you want in a car.

I'm not sure why you are getting such low figures around town. My 1.6 CR TDI gets in the range of 45-55 MPG even on short town trips. When I press the button on the bottom of the stalk for overall average MPG it is showing 52 MPG. I have yet to do any long distance driving so that is all from short trips.

I dunno, i always assumed that it was the short journeys/car not warmed up enough.
Also, sheffield is basically hills, wherever you go, it's generally uphill, even the routes back seem to be uphill.
If i can get a nice run over flat stuff it'll hit mid 40's if not abused, but generally it's going uphill all day in second  I reckon that now it's used to being driven how it is, even if i moved somewhere flat it'd probably still only do mid 40's :( ah well, it's fun to burn through diesel.

We have an ECO, and I must say I am chuffed with the interior, looks smart. Yes it is on the noisy diesel side, but so what? There isn't a big bore exhuast on it, so its not exactly anti-social.

Our MPG average sits between 62-72 now, I think my right foot was too heavy lol

Must admit we went for the 3DR Sport Coupe ECO, which I couldn't find many pictures of online, only the 5DR versions, which to be honest don't look as nice.

I have pics on my facebook, but can't get on it at work to link to them!

Really like ours, saves us a bunch on fuel and tax! Don't let these others put you off lol!

If you buy an ECO, you aren't buying it for its performance or sound, more for its Economy, and to be fair, better than average comfort/interior. We looked at Corsas but their level of basic interior and options (even colour choice) was awful in comparion!

Spoke to my local seat dealer and he said he can give me £1,250 off of the Eco if i get it this month , so just need to find the cash and ill be on my way :)

Liking the black alloys, have you considered color coding the roof spoiler to white Daniel? Think it would finish it off rather nicely.
