No, was available on other models too (I drove an FR with it)

I'm far from a Mk4 geek, hence 'available' on Ibiza's.... it's yet another numbing driver assist though

I can only see it being useful during icy conditions :S
I reckon it would become a right pain! Specially if it does it on a tight corner, it'll shift the weight of the car and make the back end slip out. Specially if it's like how the ABS kicks in at every second it can. I swear the wheels haven't even lost grip!

It's no use in icey conditions... most of it kicks in at the low speed end, but it's effectiveness is limited by grip.

mine said se sport but got discs all round n had her flat out to make sure lol ;)

Sorry an off topic comment that has been raised by looking at that link above, I see that you replaced the ARB mounting bushes - I take it that you realise that your ARB was an early type one and that its lost its plastic end stops so its u/s! Fitting these Polly bushes might have made it quieter but they will not restrain the side to side ways movement for too long as they are not meant for that purpose.

yeah did realise that it was just a quick fix that i did one weekend i had been meaning to get the newer arb with the stops on it but forgot about that till now lol big job getting them changed insnt it?

Yes, I'm afraid you have guessed correctly, I bought the bits for my wife's Polo 9N 1.4SE - took one look under the car and thought "garage job" as the crossmember needs to be dropped down to get the ARB out and new one in - and that means full four wheel re-alignment, or a regular trip to buy new front tyres!

*******.. i thought mine needed re-aligning because when u get to like 100+ stearing goes abit dodgey but tyre wear isnt bad luckily, they never picked up on it for the mot. if there isnt many specialist tools to do it il have a bash my self, or can i be a pykie and just try n make some homemade stops lol? i think a jubilee clip one the ouside of each bush should do the trick...death trap cough cough* iv got a 4hour journey to make 2moro night at the speed of light too should be fun! how much did it cost for the polo?

Yes you would have needed the smaller bushes as the plastic "tails" of the stops increased the original ARB diameter - and now they have gone - the newer ARB obviously uses these smaller bushes. I fitted a couple of jubilee clips to stop the ARB banging side to side until I got it to the dealer. Cost of job - I'd guess price of an ARB (?) an hour of labour £85? and just over £100 for the alignment.

There is a reasonable bodge involving welding large washers on as stops - that is all the newer ARB has instead of the plastic ones - but unless you can weld that would be a bit messy and costly.
