Hey, tried a search but couldnt really find what i am looking for. Basically i am looking at the possibility of one of the above cars as i currently have a Megane R26 and due to an increase in work miles 26mpg isnt really helping with the bank much lol. So i have been looking at possibly changing cars to a seat ibiza and was wondering if there is any difference between the cupra and fr tdi in terms of mpg. I have looked at factory figures but am aware these arent always realistic so any help would be much appreciated. Im thinking i would probably prefer a cupra which has a bit more grunt seeing as im coming from a 260 bhp, 330 lb/ft car.

Cheers, Steve.

From what my mates say and reading through the boards, theres very little difference between the cupra and fr tdi's in terms of mpg, both do over 50mpg. My FR tdi does 2 or 3 more to the gallon than my mates cupra. If its grunt your after, then the cupra would be better, its closer torque wise to your renault and could be remapped up to the same BHP with not a lot of money

I recently went from a Cupra R to a FR Tdi 150bhp. Not sure if that's the exact model you're after but just wana say the economy is fantastic. Goin at 80mph, the rev meter is just over 2000rpm. I've gone from 100 quid a week petrol to 60 (max on a bad week). Peformance isn't bad at all, I miss the Cupra R for sure but the savings on running costs are to great to go back
