just a quick one to maybe help out other members

I've got a 03 Leon Cupra and noticed i was running a bit rough, removed the engine cover and checked the pipes. I found that the upper breather pipe (y shaped with part no: 06A 103 221 AH) was very squidgy and then noticed the great big hole on the elbow of it, about the size out a penny
Done a bit of research and found an OEM replacement to be about £30

Looked on ebay and found this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150437600230

Order weds and it arrived today. seem good quality item and should last alot longer than the OEM.

the original i removed was i a right state and could easliy be ripped straight in half as it was that coroded

So all go check your pipes ;)

Yep got the same one fitted to mine mate, along with their turbo hose kit and T.I.P. Good quality stuff, although i would advise getting the lower breather hose too, as there is probably loads of crap in that one too ;)

I seen they had the tip (£72ish) but if you dont mine me asking how much was the turbo hose kit? and do you have to order over phone as didn't see it on ebay or there website?

Also did you get the lower breather hose from them too?

Yep got lower breather hose too

Turbo hose kit was around £60 for the 5 pipes. They havn't got the turbo hose kit or the lower breather kit listed, but give them an email, i'm sure they'll have some ;)

will do thanks. is the lower pipe as easy as the upper one to change (unsure exactly where it is)

this part is so common to fail on our engines. mine went within a month of owning the car. when i removed it i could literally tear it to pieces with my fingertips.

It's good to see a decent aftermarket alternative. Looks nice too.

i have recently replaced the engine breather pipe and i am still not getting the desired performance. The car, when sitting in neutral, sounds like its going to stall or cut out, but its as though it just catches before it does. When accelerating you can also feel some what of a lag in power, oh and i am using up plenty fuel, its like the fuel cap is open and fuel just pouring out :help:!!!!

so i know its not the engine breather pipe as it has just been replaced, so what else should i be looking for?? The engine management light is still on, but i figured it would be until i got it reset??

any help would be much appreciated. Also, i know you dont get the hayes manual for the Mk1 cupra, but which one could i get so i can attempt to get my hands dirty myself??

finally, i am still looking for a good garage that can do work on a cupra within the glasgow area, or thereabouts, so any help there would be much appreciated

can someone advise me where the lower breather hose is located??? and whether or not its easy to fit and fix??

Hi MB1611,

I experienced the same problem. I cleaned out the throttle body and also replaced the temp sensor. Runs perfect everytime, still a little rough on cold but not half as bad as before. Don't think this is the post to ask the question on though. Try doing a search as alot of people have experienced this issue before.

Regards

Yeah I bought one of those upper breather a couple of month ago in blue. Changed it when i did my cam chain tensioner gasket. Much more of a robust set up, you could just look at the OEM one and it would fall apart!!
