2.0 8v top speed

Shame it's an 8v box because I know with the 16v box a VR6 clutch fits which is what I'm using! If your box as gone it doesn't mean it's down to the clutch...... whats the milage on the car? Not the engine now, componets like the standard gearbox?

If you wanna make your g'box stonger then get a ATB diff for starters!

But reading back on your posts you don't seem to know the spec of your car to well, which will help

Be honest I can't think of any Golf or Ibiza GTi spec boxes that won't handle 200bhp..... I reckon it's just an old, tired box that hasn't had the oil changed in a while!

And would like to know what spec your 8v is..... if I was bying a mod'd car I know what my 1st 10 questions would be!

According to the Owners and Haynes manual it says 98mph.

Be honest with you, I really don't think it will be anyway near 200bhp.... takes a lot of cash to get a 16v to just over 200bhp

I know of a Mk1 Golf running a 9A 16v lump pushing 215+bhp on a 020 box with no problems at all

you can get 4 branch manifolds for the G60 engine so could be possible.

4 branched manifold. Tdi intake with modified throttle body fitted on then all the supercharger pipework etc.

Anything will fit. you just have to have the skills to make the manifold to fit them.

Final entry on this thread, probably because i have no real need for going any faster and i dont want to push the car any harder. She achieved an indicated 131mph today. Good service and throttle body clean seems to have got it spot on.

It was extremely fun and it felt like the car was alive and on the edge of its performance. Nothing like newer cars which take you to that speed and sit there boringly composed.
