Ibiza Cupra TDI 160 - what power can I expect from a remap?

Hi everyone.

I recently brought a Ibiza Cupra TDI on a 05 plate and wanted to do a couple of performance mods to it. My friend who has a Leon 150 FR TDI recommended a remap and after a short play between both cars his Leon is alot faster!

Can anyone offer any advice or help? What type of BHP / Torque I should expect after? And is there any smoking issues?

Thanks
Lee

With no other mods... 190-200 bhp. Mine made 202bhp/299 ib/ft with no other mods, just p-torque map.

Does smoke a fair bit at 4500rpm at full chat.. but nothing silly.

After the map you should pwn that leon silly.

You should be toe to toe unmapped to be honest or it should be alot closer.
Because your cars alot lighter.

After a remap you should leave him in the dust.

Hi Guys,

Cheers for the replies.

Looks like I'm going to have to get myself a remap then!! Has either of you suffered any negative affects due to the remap, i.e. clutch slipping, excessive turbo wear etc..

For the remap do they just increase the duration (pulse width) the injector is open for or do they increase boost pressure as well?

Cheers

Post the question to some of the mapping companys in the sponsers section.

Car is fine, but has only been mapped 3 months. No splipping yet, i am expecting it to go eventually though.

I've been mapped for 2.5 years and my clutch is fine, you just have to remember not to accelerate heavily in a high gear too low in the rev range or you will eat the clutch. Mine's remapped to anything between 200 and 210bhp and about 340lb/ft depending on the rolling road, weather, air pressure and shoes I'm wearing :cartman:
Going down to cornwall recently I was getting 52 mpg as well .. woo

My clutch slips sometimes at 2500-3000rpm but other than that it's fine. I've had 60mpg taking it very easy but expect 50+mpg on a nice motorway run at 70-80mph.

I managed 57mpg going from my parents in Sheffield to Manchester last week, going via the winding Woodhead Pass

I have custom code which is supposedly 190-195bhp and 295lbft but I suspect I have a bit more torque. It smokes like a good'un under heavy acceleration over 4000rpm

I bought my new new (Cupra TDI) on a 57 plate, got a Custom Code map on after 4 months (6000 miles) and now just under 3 years old have clocked up 61k miles with no problems at all.

Clutch is fine, no signs of slipping. Very little smoke unless revving to the top end and even then it's more than acceptable. I've seen standard family diesels kicking out more crap.

As said above though, don't try to accelerate hard in a high gear. I've done in once or twice by mistake ( in wrong gear being lazy) and the DMF vibrates like hell making you back off quickly :D

MPG wise, usually get 400 to the tank. Can get high 50's/low 60's driving normal but thats rare :)

hi, i've got jabbasport map on mine. initally had it mapped around my standard clutch and was running 194bhp & 307lb ft. had it like that for around 9-10 months but when we had our rediculously cold snap over xmas it started to slip when coming on boost most of time. it did stop once it got warmer but as it was obviously so close to the max it could handle i got a 'fast road' clutch from CG Motorsport, was about £250 and can handle 25% more torque. feeld just like standard clutch to. so anyways, i took it back there and now running about 200bhp but raised the torque to 340lbft! does smoke tho. most i've ever had out of it was 67.9 MPG! **** knows how i got that!!!
