There are alot of tuning companies who can alter the settings on the DSG box for remapping purposes, is it worth finding out if any of them can alter the kick down?

I know there is one for the 6-speed. Two options i'd like are:

1 - Remove kickdown in manaul mode
2 - Full remap of sport mode to match the powerband of the car + remove kickdown in manual mode.

They would have to be priced right and nether would be of danger to the car or box. Infact i'd say that it was actually safer!

nope, tryed it again on way home from work, deffntly no kick down in manual
find it annoying actualy cus if im going up a hill in 7th i have to shift it down myself

it ether dosnt kick down in manual or im not doing it right
i think the former personaly as i can get it to kick down just fine in D or S
strange, maybe diffrent gearbox software or somthing??

i had also heard if you hold down the + paddle when you put your foot down it should just go full throttle rather than kicking down

dont know how true this is as i am unable to test (since it dosnt kick down for me anyway)
maybe give it a try.

It would kick down to 2nd anyway so thats not what you want. Feel round under the accelerator and you'll feel the button which works for kick down. Make your your pressing that hard.

well i just been out to try it again to make sure i wasnt just being an idiot
i put my foot down in manual can feel it pressing the button, and nothing
again if i do the same in D or S it kicks down

wonder if theres somthing wrong with my gearbox then if yours all do it?
think il book it in for a check :S

anyways in regards to this if your cars are kicking down in manual, can you just not press the button then?

ive driven alot of auto boxes and this is without doubt the one thing that i cant stand about them. I know exactly what you mean as you seem to be accelerating quite nicely and then a slight increase in the trottle results in the box changing down to a gear with about 300 spare rpm left before it then changes to the gear you were in anyway resulting in you making less progress than if you had stayed in the original gear.

Annoying.

We offer remaps for the new Cupra, and we can adjust certain features of the DSG, although we are still looking into exactly how much can be changed :)

If you could turn kick down off in Manual mode if the price was right i’d certainly pop down to see you again. Another nice service if possible is to do a couple of runs on the rolling road to ascertain the useful area of the cars powerband , then map the “sport mode” gear changes to match this.
I’d be happy to do this as it wouldn’t damage the box and would only be taking better advantage of what is already there.

With regards to just not pressing the button it is all well and good to say that but I did it by accident and it’s something I don’t want to worry about happening again.
