Thinking of getting revo stage one put on my 06 plate TFSI, just wondered about what it does to insurance premiums and runnings cost eg. petrol.
Totally agreeI would always tell them, insurance companies will find anyway not to pay a claim. touch wood I have never made a claim yet.
i didnt think remaps could be traced so why would you tell them
A simple read-out from the ECU via the diagnostic connector and they will know. The same method you use to re-program it can be used to read it. I'm afraid the claims of it being impossible to tell are bullshit.
If I can do it so can the insurers.
How exactly do you do that then mate? I would be interested to know.
Thats not quite how Revo works.
For long enough, it was necessary for a dealer to remove an ECU to read it in its entirety to see something other than the stock file was on there.
I heard from a reliable source that it is possible to inspect an ECU for code like you suggested via dealer diagnostic equipment connected back to the Technical HQ building now. That being said, I have not had this confirmed from other VW/Audi/SEAT people I know.
