Noticed the temp blowing out of the climate control on my (new to me) 2004 2.0 TDI Sport isn't particularly cold - even if you set temp to it's lowest. Could it need a re-gas? Having not had climate control before (had normal aircon) I ain't sure how the system is meant to work in terms of temp and if you need to get them gassed. How much can I expect to pay for re-gas? I took my old car (Vectra) to Kwik Fit to get it re-gassed once. Cost me £48 and it only lasted about 3 weeks :(

Next question is, I bought a new Seat Sport exhaust trim off ebay an need to get it fitted. Too scared to tackle it myself, so how much you reckon is a good price from a dealer to fit it for me? Just so I know if they are trying to rip me off or not....

Exhaust trim

If it is the double exhaust trim for the sport model then I would envisage a dealer charging anywhere between 0.5 and 1hr labour, I believe the Seat accesory website should give an indication as to what the labour fitting times are (sure I have seen this somewhere).
So dependant on your dealers hourly rate, expect to pay anywhere between 35 & £70 to have it fitted. I believe your original exhaust needs some cutting off so that this fits correctly.

all you need is an angle grinder will only take 20 mins quite easy to do really a bit awkward to do and not damage the bumper but just take your time.............

Well got a quote from my local Seat dealer last week - £20inc VAT for fitting it! Will be dropping it off to them sometime this week. :)

Fitted the honeycomb grill insert at the weekend - what a struggle that was - them things don't want to come off do they!? :D

I know what you mean the mrs had a yaris and her climate was freezing compared to mine took it to dealers and they said mine was running fine unless they fobbed me off as not really a mechanic lol.

I recently took my Altea to the dealer as the climate control didn't really seem to have much grunt. They told me it was ok but I think I've fobbed off. I'm forever changing the temperture value. If it was working properly I shouldn't have to keep changing the temp setting depending on the weather conditions outside

Just to update you on what happened with my Climate Control. After getting it regassed at seat dealer, then temperature was no better - the probe was reading 22degrees even when it was set to LO (coldest setting). After further investigation by the dealer it turned out to be a faulty compressor(?) which was replaced under warranty - luckily for me as the bill came to over £1000!

So I now have nice cold Climate Control and shiny exhaust trim :)

dann - you either have little gas in which case you need to find the leak or as per madmaca your compressors stuffed. A good air con specialist (many good mobile ones) should do a dye test/sniffer for leaks prior to regassing.
