Towing Eye

Where the heck is it?

I've been prodding at the front of my car trying to find a way of screwing it in, and there's nowhere sensible on the front of my motor to do that.

I need to tow the car tomorrow am, so someone please point me in the right direction

Arghhhh!

its on the offside, below the headlight.

Depending on which leon you have, it will either be behind the lower grill (which usually just pulls off) or it will be behind some removeable trim.

If you draw a line from the centre of the headlight down vertically, it will be approximately half way between headlight and the ground.

The picture below shows the location of the bumper securing bolts: the towing eye socket is under the same piece of trim as the lower drivers-side bolt.

geez if you gota take all that off just to install a towing eye it really isnt guna help the frustration that you will already have it you actually need to use the thing, if you get my drift.

the LCR front bumper makes it far more easier to access right?

if seen people with their towing eye always sticking out there grill and iv seen this done with red ones, Im liking this idea but do they just paint them their-selves or go out and buy red ones?

im pretty sure people get theirs painted or powder coated.

I know rob don was looking to get this done, and im sure there will be discussions on this long thread..

I wonder how many get stolen..

While working two weeks ago i came across a lady in a car stuck in the middle of a major junction with some bloke waving at her.
seems he had been tower her using the towing eye, and im not sure how he managed it but got the eye to take turning it the normal way... but only by a small amount.. so it towed her so far then pulled out mid junction.

On the facelift LC would it just be a case of removing one, or both, of the 'disc' cut-outs in the bumper then? Would you gain access to the towing eye or bumper fixings?

Just take the little piece out under the drivers side - next to the fog light - the color coded bit, it simply unclips and can "dangle" there. I just pulled mine out all the way and it pulls the bolt out too as i didnt want it falpping about! it clips back in no probs!!
