I've left half my tools 200 miles away..... I'm such an idiot! Any recommendations on a garage that would be ok to get it fitted at? Found a localish forge distributor but they're closed today to do work on one of their cars. Annoying thing is it's only today i can spare the time to get this fitted!

edit: Found the rest of my tools, got everything ready to do then realized i'm missing all the torx screw driver heads meaning i can't remove the airfilter. So now i'm going to have to rush out and buy another set...

Bloody hell... So i've just been to Halfrauds and bought another screwdriver set and on the way back the Emissions light has come on AGAIN...

Long story short, about two and a half weeks ago the light came on and felt a loss of power in the low end. Took it to the local garage and they "fixed" it. I drove back upto Birmingham where i am now the next day but within ten minutes of the drive the light came back on... I took it to the local garage up here but on the way the light went off. So here i am with it on again.

My main question is, will this induction kit void the warranty on anything to do with the emissions as i don't want to put it on to find that i have to pay for them to fix the emissions problem because of it.

Can't believe the hassle i'm getting just to fit this induction kit!

I'd hold fire until you get any issues sorted. Some garages may make your life difficult.

Mardon: I was afraid someone would say that :( lol

Nightflight: Well that's the problem i'm not going to be able to get to the original garage that sorted it originally until Christmas. So it's going to be another Seat garage that wont believe me if i say it was a pre-existing issue. What's annoying is if it's like last time then the light will probably turn off again in a day or so!

Ah, i see your point. In which case i'd leave it off for the time being, no point making problems for yourself.

Have the garage checked the exhaust sensor wire? Mine was badly routed at the factory and so dropped down, burnt on the exhaust and would intermittantly bring up the dash light when it shorted.

Well they told me it was the oxygen sensor and they replaced that, but by the sounds of it it could be the problem you had. I'll mention it them when i drop it. Gutted i can't fit the induction kit today now!

just wondering splinter, have you had your water pump/supercharger coupling changed. My missfire problem started with an emission light which flashed under hard acceleration, started off infrequently and then happened more and more until the epc light came on one day and running on 3 cylinders. That was down to the seals though, dont want to alarm you, just trying to be of any help.

Btw: Does the emission light stay on or flash? they mean different things

Techie: No joke, you scared me then lol Used your pic on another thread as a go to point for a reference on installing this, so thanks yet again for your help!

Lucifer: To my knowledge no, but i haven't had the boc for that long, and it wasn't from new so for all i know it could have been. Didn't you have the water pump changed and they didn't replace all the bolts which caused issues? That sucks if that is the case, i think it may have been your thread i read. As for mine its a solid light. Sometimes the car seems fine, no difference, but sometimes it's as if its struggling along until 2,500 revs. That's where the turbo kicks in if i'm correct? If i am right that sounds like the supercharger is having issues....

Anyway when they first sorted it the power issue went straight away so it must be linked to the sensor or the wiring around it being routed poorly. Anyway i have it booked in a dealer 8am tomorrow, its a good half hour drive away meaning it's going to be a good cab journey/ walk back lol not sure if a courtesy car is available if it isn't the garage you bought the car from?

they didnt replace a bolt which was evidence they were lazy and took the manifold off to get at it, theres no need though. It was the seals off the manifold they didnt replace with new ones which they should ALWAYS do, standard protocol which meant they got cracked and leaked air

Yeah mine was a flashing light, not a solid one. I got a c.car when I got the water pump replaced; not my dealer, so I dont see why you wouldnt get one. Just make sure you make it clear that you NEED a car otherwise they wont give you one.

Let us know what happens mate.

That's terrible, to think of all the hassle you've gone through because of their laziness, yet you get no compensation!

its a joke, most of the problems that people are getting are down to seats customer care/ the factory where they'r assembled. The golf GTs arnt getting this amount of varying problems which turn out to be not part faults but silly mistakes being made in the installation or slap dash way the parts are being mounted/tested/put together.

splinter, I had the same emissions problem after about 2 months. Loss of low end power and emissions light came on. Turns out it was just my spark plugs needing cleaned because of all the short journeys I had to do for work the couple of weeks before hand. Dealer said i just needed to "boot it" some more. since then changed jobs and have had no further problems at all including a trip to croatia and back. :)

Right well the dealer rang me yesterday asking what part was replaced last time it was at the dealers, so i gave them the info. I suggested the wiring problem that nightflight mentioned and the guy said they'd checked all of that and it was fine. At the end of the day i rang back to see what was what and they said they need to replace another sensor, but also another fault to do with wiring has come up...

So they're gonna keep it for a day or two to try and get to the bottom of it. Should get a call back from them tomorrow afternoon. Really frustrating as i have the forge kit waiting for me and some matching side lights lol

Rossers87: Sorry just saw your post. I may speak to them in a bit see if they've got any closer to working out what the problem is and may suggest that, Cheers!

Anyway went to two local vw dealers in my area to ask them about TSI engine problem all of them said no. But got odd look when I said "i don't have vw but I got seat but uses the 1.4 twincharged engine. Lol

Just spoke to the garage and all they told me was that they've ordered more parts for it that will arrive in the morning, then they'll fit them and see if it's right then i can pick it up... The guy didn't have the info on what exactly was wrong though. However when i first rang up and gave the number plate the fella said "oh the boc with all the engine problems??" So it's a bit worrying to say the least... I was hoping to get it back today and fit the induction kit, but it may not be until tomorrow afternoon at least now :(

Right just got my car back. The other garage gave me a new oxygen sensor that was outdated so they've given me a new one :S seems a bit odd it took so long especially with all of the talk about "other" parts...

Anyway lets fit this badboy before it gets dark/ rains on me!

Looking forward to seeing the finished product mate and your hearing your thoughts about it!

Take pics if you can - step-by-step would be good
