I get the idea for a auto but why does it still do it in manual, when I drops down to 1st gear when u floor it in second it's just stupid and u look like u can't drive.

Discuss before. Just a feature I guess. U can get a remap for the dsg. I found it annoying but now I change driving style.

i dont get what everyone worrys about the kick down feature? and to be fair i have no idea about the flooring it in second? as mine just seems to stay in second?

There is a button behind the throttle pedal to active the kick down. It's annoying because say ur in 7th gear doing 40mph and entering a 60mph area. When hit the kick down it will drop down to 2nd gear and revs the nuts out (6800rpm) of the car and it will be out the power band.

mmmm I think it all depends on how hard you depresss the pedal, I have noticed it has stages for kick down. So if I really press my foot down hard it will select the lowest gear for maximum power pull away but if I am a little gentler it will only kick down one gear. I guess it takes a lot of getting used to and once you are familiar with the box and what it does it does become easier and definately changes your driving style. Same as dependant on how hard you put your foot down from pull away will alse dictate when the box decides to upshift. So a nice steady pull away and gears change lower down the rev range, a little more pressure from the foot and gears will change a little higher in the rev range.

Think of a different scenario, you drive at a certain speed with 7th gear and a danger comes up. You must accelerate fast or you crash, if there was no kickdown it would be downshifting to 6th and leaving you unable to accelerate and most likely have a serious accident.

When you press the kickdown button you are telling the car to accelerate as much as possible.

My suggestion is if you want to accelerate alittle bit just press the pedal as much as required instead of flooring it for no reason. Kick down for me is working fine and adds that sporty flavour even on D-mode, but that is my personal opinion.

I just think it should never kick down into 1st especially as you have 7 gears. In "D" it's fair play but I would like to put it in manual and disable kick down

At least in my car it never downshifts to 1st gear unless doing >30km/h, not sure why it does it to you. I had a chat with my programmer about disable the kick down and he was very very negative about it, it is possible but he said he would not do it to me because it is very unsafe. Tbh in the beggining i was hating it too but now i got used to it and it is helping alot.

Very unsafe? Only in manual mode,
Most people should have come to realise to accelerate fast u need to drop some gears

I hardly use kick down, always use paddles. Can go down the gears as many or less you want......... Silly me did not find out you could use the paddles in d mode !!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea same here, no probs with mine ??

Ok, next time you driving change into manual put it in 2nd gear about 2000 rpm and floor the pedal.

It will drop into first landing you about 5-6000 rpm screaming it's ibizan balls off

Yeh... mine doesnt do that? just stays in second gear then i just change it when i want to go up? stop your whining!

Mine deff doesnt do this, im always launching from 2nd in manual and my boc my11. Havent noticed once yet its kicked down whilst booting it.

Maybe they have new software update that cures this now , find out tomorrow maybe what new updates we have for our Cupra, if any.

I double checked this tonight and it does happen when you push the pedal all the way down, obviously this activates the kickdown switch.

If you only push till the switch it does not do this, it stays in selected gear, but I have a heavy right foot and when I want full throttle the pedal hits the carpet so I'm finding this very annoying, stopping you foot mid travel is awkward.

So I wish the kickdown switch was disabled in manual mode.

mate i think your just being fussy! to be fair right you put your foot right down and push button down... not goin to lie it makes pretty much no difference to if you stop just before the button is pushed, and then you wouldnt be complaining :)
