Nearly paid off my Ibiza now just owe me mum another grand or so lol, so when i have paid her i'm thinking of getting rid for something else.

I like the car and all, the shape and the lumina orange lol. Have had 4 or 5 lil faults with it which doesn't bother me aslong as they are sorted on the warranty, but it's the power and fuel consumption that i'm not happy with. It is a 1.4 sport and when i put my foot down it just feels like it's really having to work itself to move the tonne and half of car lol. The fuel consumption is not as good as the Seat book stated getting low 30mpg.

The question is do i upgrade to a more powerful Ibiza, a year old or so or do i change cars completely... i have no idea what i would go for! The only reason i bought a new car in the first place was because every used car i bought blew up on me in some fashion. It's also the reason i don't want to go for something older than a year or so if i do change.

If i part exchanged how much would i roughly get off the cost of another car? 1.4 sport, orange, 17" alloys, ESP pack, electric folding mirrors, with 7000 miles on it, would be around 15 months old at time of sale (won't be until around april/may).

Decisions decisions.

Do you need/want a bigger car or are you happy with the Ibiza (bar the under-poweredness)

perhaps a Cupra/FR is the way to go if all you want is more go. Seems you could get pretty much the same MPG and more smiles.
You'll probably get the same niggles again, but thats what warranties are for i guess

I was offered a part ex price of 7,500 for my 1.2 black ibiza mk5 58 plate with 17,000 on the clock.

Exchanged for the boc and the power improvement was noticeable :p

Thanks for replies.

nightflight. I am more than happy with the size and love the shape and style of it. If i got the same MPG with something like an FR i would be very happy, but crap MPG and imo crappy power i'm not that happy.

sc16v. Do you really think i could get £8.5-9k for the car?? I would love it if i could get that! Would love to go for a new plate, but i am thinking of going back to college next year and want to save up some cash etc so would only want to put another couple of grand towards something else. It has taken me just over a year to pay back the 6.5k i was leant which was quite abit of my wage each week and overtime as i wanted to get the debt paid off asap.

Wish you hadn't posted this. Had a quick look at insurance on a Cupra, and it's £100 less than i'm paying on my current car.

hmmmmm.

I have a 10 plate Cupra but it just doesn't give me the feel good factor. Thinking of trading it for a 2008 BMW 3 Series. Had one once before which is maybe why the Ibiza feels so cheap and cheerful (despite paying 16k for it!). Fuel economy doesn't live up to the quoted 44 mpg either. I average 36, can get 41 if I drive like a granny. 320d Beemer averages 51 mpg and still gets to 60 under 8 secs. As much as I try, I just don't get a buzz from the 'Beeza. :-(

My 1.4 sport sees about 36 mpg!

I'm in the same boat mate. My Ibiza is the 1.6 DSG and I do admit that I do kane it most of the time, but I'm lucky if I'm getting 34-35 out of a tank. Most of the driving is on my own with a boot full of stuff and I do notice its a bit on the underpowered side. If I'm carrying passengers its a nightmare trying to overtake.

I must admit I'm thinking about changing for something a bit more powerful. My car is going into the garage on Friday so I might ask them what they'll give me for it (its a vw/audi/seat group) so I might get a deal if I buy a VW or Audi.

mmmm my baby is at the body shop now getting a new bumper finally and my hire car is a 58 mk5 golf TDi, I just don't like it one bit. Screw economy, I want power hehehehe and with my REVO I have more than enough to keep me well happy all the time. Even the missus was complaining about the golf and said she wished the boc was already back...........

hey jc - what engine is in the golf - is it the 2.0tdi 170bhp?

What bhp is the Revo got?

Yeah it is the 2.0 tdi but I think the 140bhp not the GT engine. I am running about 215bhp with my REVO on the boc :funk:

215 is much more like it. My bog standard 1.6 DSG is only 105 !
I might have a word and see if I can do a deal on my thing! I bought it just before the Cupra / BOC came out.

You won't be dissapointed mate. trust me, I am a slave to it now hehehehehehhee. You can find some decent deals on cupra/bocs now so check it out. these cars still turn heads every where.

Time to shop around for your insurance methinks, The quote I had on a Cupra was and extra 30% on my 1.6 CR oil burner. A Cupra would have been nice though but I could not justify it.
