I have read all the stuff JKM put on their website about r/r figures and considered it all, and as I have matured, I have realised there is a bit more to life than peak HP and ft-lb figures.us southern softies dont feel the need to massage those Hp figures though
no idea what the ST's and VXRs make on there. i know after doing RR days with STs in the past that they dont make over 300Hp on the std turbo. think VXRs are the same as well. They come up north if they want free HP in doggy bags lol
what car you got now al?
I have read all the stuff JKM put on their website about r/r figures and considered it all, and as I have matured, I have realised there is a bit more to life than peak HP and ft-lb figures.
With that said and considered however, I have read that Focus ST's and Astra VXR's make close on the same figures at JKM as they do on other rolling roads.
A good translation of bhp/ft-lb in real life is 1/4 mile times, and the best ST's and VXR's on the 1/4 mile are a good 3/4 of a second and 5+mph slower top speed despite being the same weight. Put this on to a 1/4 mile calculator and you will see that you need a good 60+bhp to achieve times that much quicker.
Personally, I dont believe that JKM's claim of 330bhp on a 2.0T as being accurate when every other rolling road says different, yet other cars make close on what they do on the same "every other rolling road".
I have no reason to fret or worry about not making claimed figures as my new car is 100% standard and I am actually seriously planning to keep it standard, but I have a real issue with one set of rollers being different (much lower) than every other r/r and any justification as to why they are right and every single other one is wrong.
Free bhp or not, I know a standard Leon Cupra will keep with a mapped Astra VXR which supposedly makes 260-270 odd bhp and the Leon will only make claimed factory figures on JKM's r/r. Go figure.

what about all the other stage 2+ cars there then?? 330Hp is the highest ever output seen by a k04 TFSI on JKMs rollers
AFAIK Sy, they have never RR a healthy Stage 2+ KO4 yet. They have only done 3 or 4 and all had running problems (so JKM say anyway). But then again, most modded cars that go on their rollers do..![]()
so 330bhp cupras are destroying new m3s and 410bhp evos in a straightline?
Granted sportec have homologated stage 2 plus engines at 323ps and 474nm torque.
Either way I dont really car what the dyno says, and 1/4 figures arent always the best indicator for speed either.
For me 30mph roll ones against other cars really puts thing into perspective as to how quick your car really is.
Well for a start, a S2+ Cupra/Ed30 will be/is quicker than a S2+ S3 when rolling. So how did you compare against them both in more detail (if poss)?
Actually i was quicker than a stage 2+ S3. Regarding the Cupra .I have driven it, been behind, side by side, swapped cars( to make sure it wasn't driver skill) the outcome always the same so i know it will be circa 330 on JKM's rollers.
Poverty as you say your self weight etc maybe to do with it, 4 wheel drive drag etc. The 2.0T is very torquey when tuned. The higher HP cars will shine more up top. Put an M3 beside a Cupra stage 2+ for 2 miles what would the outcome be?

What rollers do JKM use anyway?
I've always been a big fan of the dyno dynamics one as it is conservative and does not try and over-cook the numbers.
That said, RRs are always a lottery and should only really be used to setup a car (along with a road test for true performance). As you all know the real difference will come to light when you drive 'em.
Only true way to tell if one car is performing better than another is a RR day or a quarter mile dash (although this does give better drivers an advantage).
Which reminds me, mine is running really bad at the moment (or maybe just got used to stage 1+)
Dave , revision D mate you know it makes sense !
