why? i dont understand the purpose can you not think of your key as a button which starts your car. a pre start on the other hand would be pretty cool for the winter warming the car before you have even unlocked the car.

The easiest way would be to get into the ignition barrel, and piggyback the switch over the last two connections. The buttons themselves can be obtained from lots of places. The ignition key would still have to be used to switch things on, and strictly speaking the key could still start the car.
Make sure you put it somewhere where the passenger can't reach. It only takes one drunken finger to press it while the engine is running to completely destroy your starter motor and flywheel.
