Well, after not being able to figure out why the car kept stalling at junctions, traffic lights, roundabouts etc and hesitating while accelerating, the next idea was to book it in at JBS to see if they could find out what was wrong with it.
As said on their invoice the work done was..
check fault codes and log vehicle
test lambda probes - ok
test MAF - ok
inspect boost hoses and vac hoses - ok
found vehicle to be running rich when returning to idle, suspect tuning at fault
So basically, I was told everything was perfect with it, the noise I could hear that sounded like a boost leak was just the noise the turbo was making and the only thing they could think of it being was the remap. To temporarily make the car run without stalling at junctions etc they unplugged the MAF. After talking to them about it a bit more extensively they suggested I talk to Backdraft Motorsport who supplied the kit to see if they could shed anymore light on it.
So I phoned Backdraft who told me that they thought they knew what the
problem was and I should take it to them asap. They assured me with it being their kit they should be able to sort it out and if they couldn't, they wouldn't charge me. I found this more than acceptable and booked it in with them for yesterday.
I also phoned Revo to talk to them about the remap in case it could have been this. They told me it couldn't have had anything to do with the remap because they don't just give up like that.
So I took it to Backdraft Motorsport yesterday and I am happy to say it is now running perfectly.
As said on their invoice the work done was..
diagnose issuses and pressure test
found hole in charge pipe lower
replace MAF
fabricate intake pipe
fabricate lower charge pipe
clean and tape ecu connection
The main thing in this that really shocked me is that JBS told me they had checked all the boost and vac hoses which would have had to include the lower charge pipe and surely they should have spotted this hole..
This had obviously been caused over a long period of time and not happened in the 10 days between taking it to JBS and taking it to Backdraft seeing as i'd hardly driven the car anywhere as I knew it was still not running properly.
After the new lower charge pipe was put on and everything was back together, a test drive confirmed that the noise I could hear that sounded like a boost leak was in fact a boost leak from the big hole in the lower charge pipe rather than the noise the turbo was making.
Anyway not wanting to dwell, the car is running perfectly fine now and i'm more than happy with the fantastic
service from Backdraft Motorsport. I can't sing their praises enough! Hopefully I won't have to go back there to have it fixed anytime soon but I'll definitely go back to have work done there in the future.
Few more pics of the car for anyone interested..
