just wondered when peoples fuel lights are cummin on. mine comes on when the guage still shows 1/4 tank?? is this normal?

cheers quys

ok cool, just getting to know my car. and now i know when the fuel runs out :D

now i just need to figue these freckin lights out!!!

one thing i despise about my fuel light is.
It'll come on just before going into the red..
so im driving long thinking as i can last another bit...
5mins later i look at it again.. and its hitting the bottom of the red..

probably just my car but its annoying lol

Hmm, my Ibiza didn't have one, the Cordy does and it has a mind of it's own - as does the fuel gauge and DIS for that matter.

I drive it off the Odometer - tank holds just over 10 gallons and I know I'll be getting 35mpg on a run, and 25 - 30mpg around town. So I fill up when I'm close to the range.

mine runs for a good 15 miles past the red line was the tighest my ass had been clentched on the motor way :)

yesterday my gauge kept going from full to nearly empty every time i accelerated. dont get why....

When the light comes on,mine will accept about 38 litres of fuel.
This means that there should have been about 7 litres left in the tank.

this happens when you unplug the speedo (so maybe bad earth)
when i had my clutch done, they forgot to plug speedo in and fuel gauge was everywhere.
I guess its so that if you didn't want to clock miles up on your car you would unplug it, so they make it the earth wire for the gauge so you can't drive round with it unplugged. Or that was my assumption

This would explain that when my gearbox went, it must have taken out the speedo sensor and then messed up the fuel guage :D
