You know you got a Mk2 Ibiza when you keep telling yourself and your mates you're confident your car will fight it's way through the MOT...

Even though
-the speedometer light isn't working at all(but that's REALLY hard to check in a lighted garage on mine :D, also since the RPM light is working they'll think it's only one light in there :D... right?... Probably not :()

-your rocker cover gasket is leaking... (oh well), leaving some nice evidence of that in the form of thick dirty grease on the rocker cover

-there's the same thick dirty grease on the underside of the gearbox aswell(I think it was the gearbox where i saw it anyway :p)

-the allignment of the wheels is way off thanks to fitting lowering springs, (should get it realigned eh?)

-your front right suspension makes metal-clinging-into-metal noises when going over big bumps(also thanks to lowering springs...), cause the front shocks are 1 cm shorter than the dampers like... I'll just tell them I'm gonna get coilovers in May and they'll let it pass.... right...?

-some rubbers between the rear shocks have disintegrated(not the ones above the shocks btw) (My boss said that shouldn't be problem)

-your tires are so old they have cracks in them between the thread... Still holding air and plently of profile left though.

-and the scratches on your windshield will reduce your vision at night slightly when headlights are aimed at you... (that shouldn't make it fail since it's been like that on the previous owner too)

It's still gonna pass... *hopes* It's going in on Wednesday. Luck me wish

Little update on previous post :p

You know you have a Mk2 Ibiza when you can fix half of your problems for MOT within 3 hours...

on the day before MOT :p....

-Took the oil/grease off of the rocker cover, less grease to see now and alot cleaner anyway.

-Noticed at school my front suspension mounts were way up through the fenders, was about a half an inch of a gap between the metal plates and the holes in the front quarter panels... So went down to work and tightened it down. Now the gap isn't much smaller, but I could tighten the nuts down a lot so now I can actually fit the plastic caps on top... That way the guys at MOT won't notice it so clearly :D

-Off to home I discovered this had TOTALLY fixed the knocking of the shocks onto the springs!
-Also the steering wheel was a lot more straight while driving in a straight line now... The rest will probably be done via realignmend I guess, which I hope they can do right away at the garage where it has its MOT... Also my steering had improved a lot, it was way sharper than before so I'm happy... I just hope the nuts don't shake itself loose or something later...

-While I was busy I thought let's just fix the speedo light aswell... Taped that down and told my dad to drive it to the garage very slowly so it won't fall out AGAIN tomorrow :p

And I really don't think they'll be able to spot the rest... they won't sit in the car and shine a torch at it to see if the window isn't scratched... The rubbers in the rear dampers are hardly visible with the wheels on, because the car is lower than usual. Only they could advise me to get new tires, but since the thread is still good I don't think they will fail it on that, garage is a bit lousy and I still got 3mm of thread left.
Did spin the tires because it was raining today though  Maybe had a bit of a lead foot today

Just getting a second Ibiza right?, not selling the other one... It looks too nice to sell :p

@Mike: Yeah my dad knows the owner of the garage a fair bit so I think he will say something so they will be less harsh in their verdict :)

haha i mean thats good lol best to fail on something serious and let you off for minor things :)

Turns out they didn't let me off on minor things either... Failed on the springs because they were too short... I mean seriously bullcrap, since the springs will only be loose if the wheels are off the ground completely... If there's only 1kg weight on it they're completely solid already!

Ordered a coiloverset anyway, 199 euros lighter now :(

Yeah but ... You know, that's because they think "well we're sure he fixed it, he won't be so stupid not to do it so we won't even check that"... Which is acutally pretty smart...

But since they also told me it was life threatning dangerous to drive like this(which is, again, total bullcrap) I thought oh well screw it.

But yeah I mean they didn't let me off on minor things either, they nagged about one of the number plate lights not working too... I mean come one, you can still read it very clearly with only one light(and yes I tried that)... + I need new bolts for the bottom mounts cause they were loose... Silly me still didn't order those! AND I will need new tires before the end of the year, there's a 1.6 to 2.5 mm thread left on one of the tires

Anyone here got vagcom within reach so you could give me the part numbers, both the lights and the bolts if possible?! :D

Going to be an expensive half year for me :(

(and don't tell me to just put the original springs back on, because I absolutely won't do that!)

Yeah in Holland it apparantly isn't an advisory. Also I would have to put the old springs back in the shocks, since I'm still running the original shocks with lowering springs. I really cba to do 2 more evenings of work just to put on coilovers after a month... Just hoping I can get the coilies on + new MOT before the 29th since there's a meeting coming up in the Netherlands... And school is creeping me out with more and more work!!!! Exams in 2 weeks :(

You know you have a Mk2 Ibiza when your car is slowly eating up all your time :(
