Cupra eating spark plugs

I fookin hate SEAT customer service and SEAT UK.

My issues should have been easy to fix as it was obvious what was wrong, but the way in which the warranty work system operates, the customer will always suffer especially when your local seat garage is run by cocks. There is no system in place to make the garage accountable for not getting it right on the first or second go which is shocking in this day and age. There is no incentive for the garage to pull their finger out and make sure they do the best job they can for you.

I had a faulty wiring loom from day one of picking up the car, and a shagged gearbox that was stripped down multiple of times, and got worse each time the feckers touched it and neither got sorted after endless garage visits. I contemplated just getting AMD to do the works and have a fully functioning car but I shouldnt have to do stuff like that on a car whih was a year old. So I got rid, im sure the car got auctioned on to a SEAT garage, and one way or another I know SEAT will have had to finally fix that car properly to sell it on.

Its because of this I got rid of mine so swiftly and I will never buy another in warranty SEAT again.

It's reading stuff like this that makes me glad iv never dealt with seat. I bought mine from a vw garage and any work gets done by monster. Though mine is out of warranty to be fair.

Hi Rob,
Can you get the spark plug specifications for the NGK plugs and compare therm to the SEAT standard plug specification? I'm willing to bet that the NGK will be far superior in which case you can send SEAT that snippet of information along with detailed accounts of the other 2 SEAT plug failures and request you money back. ;)

I'm not going to bother saying my two-pence about SEATs treatment of people who have out of the ordinary problems, lets just say they end up in the "TOO HARD BASKET"

Yup, essentially if you used OE spec or better SEAT can't void your warranty under EU law.

its their onus to prove that the ngk sparks is the problem, and im sure other vag vehicles use ngk so therefore a quick letter from ngk will make seat look silly

The thing i disagree with is its not like the plugs they took out were less quality or less performance wise , in their eyes its not oem so thats the end of the conversation.
i had a chat on friday with a customer care (i use this term very lightly) manager who informed me that as previously stated to me missfires are a charecter of the engine in this car , i asked that having an engine bucking violently while driving is acceptable ? his reply was there is nothing wrong with my car.

when i pushed him on why my car w=has gone through 3 sets of spark plugs in a year he couldnt answer and repeated that these engines suffer from missfires which they call misburns and could not even compute that 3 sets of plugs in 1 year = a problem ? :wtf:

they dont drive my car i do , so basically they are calling me a liar by me saying there is a problem and them saying its normal.
Why then is there not golf forums or audi forums flooded with posts about missfires?
yes you see some occasionanly but it it was a trait of the engine every other post would be about missfires.

im lost i suppose though if you employee idiots you get what you pay for !

What part of your warranty was voided by using these other plugs Rob?

Also, is my clip anything like what your car does? I know the quality is crap but the noise and rpm needle is clear enough.

Rob get on to trading standards or some relevent body, get some advice and take them to court. Your car has never worked from the moment it left the factory and the way they fob you off all the time is a piss take.

Just wait till your out of warrenty all these issues that arnt issues will suddenly become issues and they'll be wanting megga bucks to fix.

There will be a law somewhere that you can screw them other with and they deserve it!

If I was Robdf2 I would be going to the newspapers, Watchdog or something.

I was reading up on the few who have had inherent issues on their Cupras. Seems that mine is similar other than mine is making full power. On a r/r day mine was within 0.5bhp of Davs 2007 Leon Cupra which was also standard but with closer to 30k miles while mine was not long run in. (261bhp ish as memory serves). My car performs perfectly otherwise.

Al exactly what my car was doing , is that 6th gear you are in? if so same rev range speed as mine was.

Things will come to a head this week i think tbh , only thing i can do is throw the evidence at them , when SEAT technical sent a master tech to see my car he said my timing was fine and all other tests were within seat parameters (utter bullshit) , when i asked to see the results they told me they dont keep logs of cars :wtf:
so if i went to court it would be my word against theirs , if i can prove my fault today in court they would say its a new fault and has not been there before , so pretty hard to resolve.
I think even though i know and everyone else whos been in my car knows its the same as it was 2 years ago basically fukced.
dont forget we are talking about a company who accussed me of removing a bolt from my door to avoid a warranty claim when my drivers door dropped !

The muppett i spoke to last week at customer rip off basically was not interested in anything i had to say , the thing that made me laugh the most was , if your car is outside warranty seat as a good wiil gesture would pay towards a part if it fails if diagnosed by a seat dealer ship
and they think im going to take my car back to these useless duffers? dillusional or what?

Aye, it was 6th (only knew as the speed and revs and gear indicator gave it away )

I hope you get it sorted once and for all.

For what its worth, someone with a MK2 LCR pm'd me earlier after I reported issues with my car, and he has issues with his. Not saying who it was but they may well want to post it themselves, but it seems at least two new CDL engine cars have the same poor running issues.

for the warranty be void i was given the impression it was anything to do with my plugs , the reason i was given was that they didnt know what else the independant had done?
until i reminded them i can go where i want to have my car serviced as long as its serviced to vag spec with vag spec parts.
they went quiet , but i did feel like i was being bullied tbh.

So the warranty on the engine went, or the warranty on the plugs?

The sale of goods act should still give you some coverage-

http://webarchive.nationalarchives....tml#Q3Areallgoodssupposedtolastsixorfiveyears

Depending on circumstances, you might be too late to have all your money back after this time, but the trader will still be liable for any breaches of contract, such as the goods being faulty. In fact, the trader could be liable to compensate you for up to six years.

Essentially since the product was faulty from new you may have an argument. Probably best to consult the trading standards or citizens advice though and get some solid legal opinions...

Warwickshire once.
SEAT should of fixed or at least offered a replacement by now.

It is worth reading the SEAT customer services bumpth on their website and quoting that back to them as well.

I think you have the patience of a Saint Rob, as if it was me I would of been sat in front of a no win, no fee solicitor a long time ago.

Given the stress and hassle I would ask for a meeting with Peter Whyhinny to find out why the issues are being ignored when it is clear that they arebeing found and fixed by Independants
