Are the lights on the Leon that bad? I have HIDs on my other car, am I in for a shock when I pick the FR up?!
The factory bi-xenons are pretty expensive as an optional extra (a bit better if you get them bundled with the media system and parking sensors in the tech. pack though).Might have to invest in a set of decent bulbs then. Why don't more people opt for HIDs? With mine being a Motability car I don't really have that option.

Yeah, the HID legality thing is still a bit of a grey area, especially concerning the beam pattern some of them produce on certain cars. I did want the factory fitted bi-xenons, however the car only cost me £1000 (actually £750 once we get our no claims back for the last car from Motability), so I couldn't really justify the expense of any extrasThe factory bi-xenons are pretty expensive as an optional extra (a bit better if you get them bundled with the media system and parking sensors in the tech. pack though).
Aftermarket HIDs are technically illegal and soon to become a cause of MOT failures.
In my opinion, the bi-xenons are worth it but I can see why people would baulk at the cost especially if they haven't used them before.
I had standard lights in my FR and found them to be fine - not great but not awful (I've driven with much worse on other cars!). Upgrading the bulbs to some of the highly-strung big brand bulbs provided a worthwhile improvement. I used Philips X-treme Power 100% for the dipped (H7) and Osram Nightbreaker for the main beam (H1). The light output and beam pattern was better, but neither provided the power or colour of HIDs, of course.
