MOT today, passed but have a few things to get sorted, one being front wishbone bushes, im going to be getting the audi TT ones soon i hope, just dont know how bigger job its guna be.
update for the mirrors, they had arived on wed, all looking good, he also send me a vent to play with and turn in to a gauge pod, not only that but he also sent me a 20 quid refund so a set of tear drops for 40 quid, i dont care that they are manual for 40 quid lol
tomora (depending on weather) im going to be out at the car, painting the teardrop covers gloss black, also the front grills and rear valance.
im also going to be sorting out my rear strut brace a little more and changing my dv to the newer one i have bought.
whilst i have the mirrors off im going to see how hard if at all poss, it will be to swap the elecs from the "big gay mirrors" to the tear drops, i am the king of bodge after all lol

small update, some of you may know i am thinking about selling the R at the moment, its not set in stone but we will see what happens, BUT i will be taxing it at the end of the month so will have another 6 month of maybe keeping it...
fitted the autobhan88 tip and changed my dv to my other 007p rather than the 007pA, seems odd that im not using the spacer i had in the old one but i am using the same spring and it seems to make more noise than the old one, could be down to the tip though!
i have also re wraped the surround and it looks mint (pics to come soon) not done my mirrors as of yet but i think Tyrer may have started a trend that i am thinking of following (again) lol still not done the rear badge though
iv also now got my TT wish bone bushes ready to fit and will prob do the diy short shift soon too.

LCR GRILL SURROUND carbon wraping - little how too and a link to how to do the badge

so im a little bored at the min, im putting all my photos together for mini how to guids
i wrapped the front grill surround a while ago but despite it looking mental i wasnt happy with it as i cut it a little short SO i did it again last week and took a few pics along the way

012.jpg

tools - heat gun / hair dryer, craft knife (SHARP), time - lots of it!! (yes my knife is pink!! so it stands out and can bee seen, and it was the only ones they had when i needed them lol)
other - carbon wrap - not cheap shat!

put the wrap face down and the grill also face down on top,
mark and cut round the grill leaving plenty of over lap for the edges and corners
013.jpg

next mark and cut out the center of the surround make sure you leave plenty of over lap for the bottom of the grill, there is more surface there than it looks (where i went wrong first time round)
014.jpg

a point to make here - keep the off cut as the will also do the top and middle of the S badge too!!

now turn every thing the rite way up, lay the grill surround on the surface and peal the backing off the wrap, now place the wrap over the top of the grill surround making sure its square and in the rite position
015.jpg

gently heatthe wrap where ever you want to start, i started at the bottom and worked my way around, the corners are tricky, you will need to heat up the wrap so it goes soft and lightly strech it round and smothing it out as you go. (i found that when the corner is done make a little slit in the exess it stopped it getting pulled back off), i would say to make sure you go over the little ridges a bit so that when the grill goeas back together it will hold the wrap if for any reason it became un stuck
016.jpg

carry on like this untill completed
017.jpg

this is usfull if you want to do the S badge too, it helped me a lot the first time i did any wraping on my car

looks like im going to be getting my old seats back in the car soon, i say old i mean the oem LCR seats rather than my current elec leathers, my mrs is getting anoyed having to press buttons to move the seat, on a plus side the car will be at least 22Kg lighter with out the leather!!
im also going to be looking out for a set of golf mk4 recaros, would like the black and red but will see what happens first as im also now looking at a respray a lot more due to washing the car on wed night...i think the dirt was holding the paint together

i havent done a lot to the car for a bit really, i did whop about 3/4 of an inch off the gear shifter today as iv always thought it was a tad long and will prob do the short shift mod at some point

it was more of a comfort thing for me, my cupra had just over an inch taken off it lol
it does make the distance for the shift a little shorter but not a lot really, my mrs didnt even notice lol
its well easy though and only takes about 10 mins

pop the gear gator off at the bottom then pull up on the gear knob, use both hands its normaly a sod
once its off get a hacksaw out and cut the top of the stick off,
the top of the stick has a slot in it to sit the knob correctly, i more or less halfed it then put it all back together and give the knob a bang on the top with ya hand to make sure its on there.

on my cupra i took all of the slot off, the oem knob still went back on only diff was i had to hit it a bit harder to get it on and i taped it up under the gator just to make sure it didnt mover (it didnt any ways)
