Ive found this piece of braided hose zip tied to a pipe under the inlet mani included a few pics as i cant decide if its something thats been added by a previous owner or something that supposed to be somewhere? looks like it goes into the black sensor by the dipstick in photo 2

How is your car running, any lights on etc?

Can you trace the cable back any further than the black sensor ie does it definitely connect to something in there?

just having issues with my temperature gague at the moment but ive been told thats the thermostat as ive changed the green sensor,
it does look like its been used at some point as its not new by any means, car seems to be running well though quite snappy on boost but i suspect its supposed to be like that as ive not owned a turbo petrol before

cant really get my hand under enough to find where it routes to would there be anything i can remove to make it easier to get under?

Only thing I can think of that's braided is fuel and brake lines not wanting to scare ya tho might be misulainious but that's all my head can produce at th min ;)

Haha yeah its defiantly not either of those as it seems to be some sort of sensor!

Egt probe? What's this? And where should it be connected ? Why would it be out
Weird as its not throwing any faults up on my scanner for it
Cheers Ben

Exhaust Gas Temperature - the ECU on the LCR measures the EGT, and if it gets too high (indicating a lean mixture = v. bad) it injects more fuel to bring the EGT down.

It's supposed to be connected in the back of the turbo exhaust side, god knows why its been tied up under there though?

Okay I will get onto connecting it back in ASAP
Don't suppose there's a y pics of where it connects in or the route it take to get there
Some people are bloody useless ain't they

Cheers Ben

Ok so just had my hand down the back and from what I can feel these is a blankong plug inserted where the Egt should be is there any reason why this could be?

Cheers Ben

am i right in saying (probs not) that the 210s dont have the EGT ?
maybe you had a turbo swap at some point for a k04 that doesnt use an EGT probe ?

Doesn't explain the blanking plug in the turbine housing though? Or the probe being connected but not installed, maybe a faulty probe?

Elsawin shows both AMK (210) and BAM (225) as having the EGT probe fitted.

OP, do you know any history of the car?

I don't know anything about previous owners. It's got full seat history new clutch + flywheel but nothing about a turbo swap or anything like this?

Should I remove this plug and replace sensor to where it should be? And then see what happens?

Cheers ben

I'm just wondering if the sensor was faulty and was hence unplugged? I have no idea how much a new one would cost, possibly the reason why its not been replaced.
