Oil Catch Can Silicon?

I'm getting a catch can this week and was wondering could i use any silicone to connect to can from breather or do i have to use an oil silicone hose?

It's only fumes/vapours passing through mate so silicone is fine that's what mine are

no dont use normal silicone, i used it and it corroded away. i used it on the inlets to make them bigger as the cans inlets are 15mm and the oil hose is 19mm.
there is a special type of silicone you can use but its very expensive, oil resistant hose is what you want.

Mines fine no corrosion at all it's 4ply silicone had no issues so far mr sam not even on tge cheep crap they supplied as I used that to pack it out

my silicone died so from my experiance its best to use the proper hose (oil resistant)

sam take a look at the silicone gasket around the can, my hose did the same thing.

i seen some on ebay which are blue there probley not good.

I bought the normal silicone from eGay, it was crap, waste of money, just kept kinking, collapsing at the slightest movement with hardly any bend at all.

I need 16mm ideally, but struggling to find any, might have to look a bit harder and drop some emails.

i have looked every where for a silicone reducer from 19mm to 15mm and can't find one anywhere but found 19mm to 16mm and i'll just make sure it's really tight and secure on the can.

Yep, thats the problem i had, down to 15mm, bought a 25mm to 16mm, a 16mm pipe joiner and 2m of 16mm, the 2m of 16mm silicone was cack as i said! So my project is on hold at the mo....

Sam my gasket did exactly the same thing but a bit worse what did you replace yours with?

Theres a tube of stuff called, 'instant gasket' or 'instant blue' and its a blue type gel that hardens to a rubber.

Used for sealing rocker cover gaskets, therefore oil resistant. Its a couple of nuggets per tube! Gets my thumbs up.

For 50ml of gunk every service, its not too much of an issue to re-seal everytime you empty

As above instant gaskit. Comes in a tube like silicone sealant.

Any motor factors should stock it, quite an old school product but its still knocking about!!

kevinking2020 - look for the marine fuel pipe from sirusuk, its a bit cheaper and better.
