it wouldnt bother me if it was the spec i had ordered and it hadnt been registered

i had no chance of that happening with mine tho lol

glad i had to wait in the end as it came 15 weeks later 2 days before the new reg so i waited for the new reg date :D

Regarding the No VAT deal. Last year it was the full amount of VAT and included the options but the deal was ending on 31 December. It would not be honoured after that date and there was no alternative deal to replace it. Effectively this meant that no-one could order a new car until January unless the were prepared to pay full price. This made no sense but that's what we were told. The new deal on VAT starting in January is different and doesn't include the options.

When we chose a car from the list they could not confirm if the Avon dealar would let us have it. They said it was to be their own demonstrator. It was confirmed later by telephone that they would let us have it and our deal was actually completed and deposit paid by telephone. I was not happy about the way it was done and that's when the overcharging "mistake" came to light.

The build date was confirmed by the dealer who was also supposed to keep us informed of shipping details but didn't. So we used the ship tracking sites ourselves. The vehicle equipment details were confirmed by Customer Care.

Were you charged extra for Bluetooth & USB as an option? The February Tech & Spec brochure says it's a £355 option on the FR. I don't know about interior colours.

I mentioned checking standard equipment in case the spec had been changed and to see if it included anything extra for free. There is a thread on here about the alarm, some cars just got an immobiliser and not the alarm. Also one about floor mats, the brochures don't say if you get them as standard. The details for ours say "Without floor mats", but it does have the plain black ones front and back.

Let us know what happens.

Hi rji

With regard to the combined USB + Bluetooth option which we paid £355 for, when I said that the Radio/Telephone Handsfree was standard, I actually meant that it comes as part of the USB + Bluetooth option that we chose.

Regarding 'floor mats', we were told that they now come with 'standard floor mats'.

The FR should have an alarm as standard but we will check this out.

With reference to the 10% VAT offer, the dealer told us that it was 10% but not sure if it should be 20% on the cars.

We have had it confirmed this evening by the dealership that a delivery of cars is expected on thursday morning and our car is one of them and we are going in around 4pm on Thursday to check it over. We are fully expecting to see the factory protection still on the car, inside and out and also details of the VIN etc on the windscreen. If all is ok with the car, including the 'spec', we will complete the paperwork and give them the 'go-ahead' to PDI the car for Friday collection.

Regards, BHeart

Am I the only one who thinks your being a little too cautious?

There's a car, unregistered, unused and with everything you want on it sitting at the docks. Sign the papers with the understanding you can reject it if it's not up to standard, get the car and drive it, if it's obviously not what you want, then tell them to shove it and wait 3 months for the one you want.

Simples :D

When we saw ours the factory protection had already been removed. They said it was still in transport mode but I don't remember seeing the TRA on the display. It took another 2 days, 4 including a weekend, for it to be prepared - or perhaps that was just to make sure the paperwork cleared.

Looking forward to Thursday!

Well said, haha :D

You're lucky they've got your spec ready for you, and it seems like te dealer's being really fair offering you the chance to give it back if it's not what you thought it would be.

I wouldn't blame anyone for being cautious and you can't be toooo cautious. And as we have ended up going to court against 2 out of the last 4 dealers we dealt with I will continue to be cautious. Having said that, if there is something dodgy going on you're unlikely to spot it until it's too late. I wouldn't hold out much hope for going ahead "On the understanding that...". Once you've signed they'll probably try to hold you to it.

But as Andyf says, it's a new car and if it's the spec you want you get it sooner.
