Now that I've finally left the shithole which is afghanistan, its time to prepare for inters.
Goal.......12.# seconds 1/4 mile so Ive got 0.7s to shave off.

My list; starting with the basics

1) Lightweight Alloys //Q: What weight is one of our standard alloys? And 17"x ?

Ive found Wolfrace Pro Lites, 17"x7, £580 for 4 and are 7.8kg each
Then OZ Ultraleggar, 17"x7 £999 for 4 and are 6.9kg each

Team dynamics do one which is the same weight as the Wolfrace but £100 more

2) Sticky tyres (but cant ware out in a rediculous amount of time on the road)

Need some suggestions here

3) Some DIY cooling mods to the supercharger, turbo heat shield, front grille

4) My favorite Stage 2+:-o, havent decided to go for twintercooler or a complete replacement but have to wait for the fr milltek to be done first

5) If I have time, finish the interior paint job I started over 9months ago

If you after track tyres have a read of this thread. I mentioned Federal semi slick Tyres with good responses and they are very cheap http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,9795.0.html

If you want to really cool your car down with instant results, then you need to try water methanol injection. Instant drop n inlet air temps.

The methanol will also give the same effect as using higher octance fuel so you can use the mode C setting on your revo as well, and if the methanol mixture runs out, just swap back to mode B and you'll be fine.
Its also cheaper than an intercooler a well.

Afghan is mint BTW. Perfect place to save the dollars whilst topping up the tan and losing weight lol

I said 12. something, its totally do-able. problem that I found when i did the 13.7s was
once you've reached 60mph the amazing acceleration starts to slow down and by the time your doing about 80 it feels like an eternity to get to 100mph which is about the speed i crossed the line at.

So a bit more power and a more efficient exhaust plus less unsprung mass = high 12s hopfully

12 second 1/4 mile???? are you sure your on the correct forum. SEATs can't go that fast, that's more farrari speed.

haha

Stage 2+ Leon cupras have been smashing out sub 13second 1/4 miles consitently and thats with manual. The Ed30 golfs with DSG are consitently around 12.7 when stage 2+.

Stage 1 Ibiza Cupras have been getting 13.6 1/4 miles at the pod. thats with only around 205-215hp. Add stage 2+ mods and power and your in the 235-245Hp area. Some sticky tyres ect and some weight loss and i think a 13 dead or v.high 12 is achievable

I would agree with you if I stayed in bastion or had a cushty little posting in a fob or something, unfortunately i spent 7 months in a little patrol base....got smashed for the first 2months until we took the area. Last few months were good though I suppose

Also whats the offset of our wheels, and it is a 5 bolt pattern isnt it?

5x100 bolt pattern mate and the team dynamic wheels suit these cars very nicely tbh. look forward to seeing you at inters mate.

I have got 13.6 at pod and I'm stage 2 couldn't get Any power down just wheelspan the whole time had to short shift from 1st to 2nd in the end going to be getting 1.2's then sticky tyres should be able to get very low 13's then there is no stage 2+ at the moment don't know if there will ever be :( engines can't take it apparently

I don't think so from what revo were saying it doesn't sound aside it will be out for a while if ever.

i had ultra's in 18s and i could throw them about with my little finger! super light but its a soft metal and they dont last (well in my case at least)

what have they said? where did they pull ths consistent 246hp figure from lol.

Mines away having a stage 2 de-cat map developed for it as we speak. Initial plan was stage 1 but by the time we got started on the car i was running out of time as i had other plans, so i left the car with them, said you can have it for the next 8 weeks, as i have a works car for the duration anyway.

It'll have no intake or intercooler though, so ill only be expecting around the 225-230hp at the most. Think ill be going water methanol injection. Great bit of kit, did loads of research when i had my octavia and was close to buying but sold up instead.

Havw found some bargain road legal semi slicks that are apparently as 90% as good as R888s in the dry, better in the wet and £50 a tyre cheaper as well, xo they will be going on. ready for some summer 1/4 mile bashing

that is forum rumour, from APR i believe so you have to take it with a pinch of salt i guess

Could have a look at Konig, they also have a bunch of lightweight wheels.

The Federal RS-R Semi slick tires are pretty nice, almost as good as the Toyo R888, on a wet track they are better!

I think tonydanza on the GTI forum summed up the difference in the R888s and the federal RS-R.

Few people I know swear by them, epic value for money.

Thinking broadly, you're not racing so being a 10th faster a lap doesn't matter, all you're looking for is good grip and something that is capable of dealing with heat rather than de-laminating, going greasy etc etc... These do the job well.

They've got a touch more tread depth, they wear slower - you're quids in! Pretty sure a few race series use them as control tyres now, MX5s certainly do.

When I went to revo they said there has been cases on golf tsi's where they must have been tuned having stretched timing chains at around 50k the variation in figures could have been different Dyno and they could have turned the map down a bit for release you never know. Oh by the way vrsy I went and saw Andy at ITG and your right he loves his job and he's a really nice job he showed me the development filter elements they are making might be done now not sure.

I think with sticky tyres and light wheels 13.4 can be beaten Paul

And the misfire issue aswell they were looking into it all hopefully they can release 2+ will be amazing

biggest and best geek ive ever met. great guy. Did he take you around all the custom racing works they have. loads of top end race series use them
