Yeah i like them too, bit dearer than a pair of led festoons though

haha the only way i can justify it is that i need a new number plate holder anyway which is £7 and two bulbs would be around £8.50 each average taking me up to £25 without postage lol.

Makes sense in my head... but then im deliberately trying to justify it! haha

Mine are dubious to say the least! their the right length but their thinner than the OEM ones... but dont seem to be "safe"

still not 100% after driving about. They dont seem to have moved... but i can pretty easily push them into the bumper... not sure if they will stand driving about?

Got pulled over for these last night..

the officer said that im not allowed any white light at the back of the car, and that the LED's we projecting outwards.

Now, i know that the projecting outwards is bullshit as they are pointing downwards, and their hitting the floor!

but, the whole white light thing... was this tool just being an arse because i had (not anymore ) tinted front windows?

Can anyone point me in the direction of somewhere i can print something off to prove their legal??

As per below would be illegal but I had some fitted to my LCR and passed 3 MOTs with no issue with them fitted. The only time it was mentioned when one of them was out. Getting a pull for it seems extremely petty though.

Registration Plate Lamps
Registration plate lamps are the lamps that illuminate the rear registration plate. Some vehicles may have these lamps fitted behind the number plate.

Multiple Registration Plate Lamps
Where more than one rear registration plate lamp, or bulb, is fitted as original equipment, any one inoperative lamp or bulb is a Reason for Rejection.

Tricycle and quadricycle requirements are detailed at Section 9.1. C. Registration Plate Lamps


Check Operation

1. Turn on the position lamps and check that registration plate lamp(s):

a. are fitted

b. are secure

c. are working

d. are correctly positioned

e. does not show white light to the rear.


Reason for failure

1. A rear registration plate lamp:

a. not fitted

b. insecure

c. with any bulb not working

d. not illuminating the rear registration plate

e. shows white light directly to the rear

as this guy is gunning for me now, i might just sell them on (ebay i think) as he tried to give me points for them until i pointed out he had a bulb out aswel

That saying I've seen some of the new BMW's/Lexus have which seem to be white number plate lights as standard. They certainly aren't the normal yellow.

he said that the white light was protruding past the bumper, which in theory it was, as it was spreading as it hit the floor but the light wasnt going towards him :/

im going to get rid anyway i think... thats £25 down the drain!
