Thought I seen your motor on eBay the other day!

Bad times :(, hope you get another car sorted soon.

Def stick around the forum mate :)

Shame that you had to sell her mate, but as others have said, you can get another LCR, but you might never be able to take that trip with all your mates ever again. Just save up hard and get another one when you get back :)

How much did it go for out of interest?

For some reason I didn't get any email alerts about the replies, so only just seen them. Thanks :)

I'm sure I'll be driving another one in the future.

I'm waiting to be flamed here but I got myself an alfa GTV 3 litre v6 at the weekend, for little over 2k :D Only 68k on the clock and immaculate service history. My mate had one for a few years with no issues, and the only other owner had it in a garage the whole time so in good nick too. Drives like a dream, gorgeous sound and still gets away very nicely.

For the money I just couldn't say no and I've now got over 3k to sort myself out for next year which has helped the cause massively.

I have stuck around and have been reading the RR's still :D

I promised myself I wouldn't mod this car, but it sounds so much like a mini supercar I'm resisting the ragazzon exhaust until I give in.

Disgusting alloys but whatever :p

One of the BEST 3L V6 engines EVER, great car for the money.

My last car had this engine in the 3.2 form, awesome noise and great torque.

Looks good mate, I have lots you can do to that engine mate so I will start your list
1. Panel filter
2. Wizardrov exhaust (via Alfaowner.com) if he has finished them - makes it sound like a V8
3. Alfatune remap
4. Koni FSD with Eibachs springs
5. Eibach anti roll bars
6. 330 brembos (if not already on)
7. Gtv cup front lower splitter
8. Metal polish on those 6 intakes

When I think of other bits I'll let you know haha

Love Alfa's

Wow, better reception than I expected! I love it, it sounds gorgeous and is a totally different drive to the LCR. The grunt in any gear at any speed is very useful, especially round town. No more thirsty either (so far). The selling of the leon was a money saving exercise, so all I'm going to do is service it and get a meaty exhaust. I want a really raspy sound out of it. Then that's all until I get back from travelling next year :D

When I drove the LCR I craved performance mods becuase I knew I could get a lot out of them, with this I'm happy with it as it is. Unless I have hundreds/thousands spare I won't get much, hence getting a handful more horses out of an exhaust and enjoying the noise.

Never use the stereo, just drive with the windows down and listen to the roar :D Corners well too, although very screechy tyres!

I won't compare it to the LCR because they're too different. This car isn't practical in the slightest, the boot is tiny and it's old. But it's different and is definitely an exciting drive. When I have more cash I'd love to get the displacement uprated to 3.2/3.5 and get a fat quad exhaust with a body kit. That would be speedy ;)

They sound sweet mate and it'll fund your travelling!

Ignore Tyrer's advice if you want to keep that money, LOL..

Tyrer, nothing personal mate! I'm sure it'd be a sweet car with those mods!

Cheers Tom. Yep, just the exhaust and 72k service coming up. That will be all :D Probably end up doing the panel filter as well, can't imagine that would cost too much. Nothing crazy though, insurance is pretty high as it is  Just as long as it doesn't break down!

My mate had one of these in Red but had so many problems. I hope yours is better matey as he spent loads on it.

But that is part of owning an Alfa, like Top Gear say, a true petrolhead can only be a true one once you've owned an Alfa at least once in your life!

Fair play to you mate. Must sound so sweet under load! How much and what brands are out there for new exhaust?

I'm hoping it's not a bad one  certainly hasn't had a bad history and the servicing/MOT history is brill. It sounds so good under load, booting it in 1st/2nd especially. Shift from 2nd at 60mph then straight into the sweet spot at 3rd, brilliant.

Been looking at a few, there's a gorgeous quad exhaust from auto delta that I'm sure would sound awesome but its over £500 with fitting on top, out of budget! Few places doing sport catbacks with twin pipes for around £250 ish, I'm roaming the alfa forums looking for other gtv owners and trying to find vids. I might take a video tomorrow on the way to work capturing some engine sounds and upload it here.

Service first though, with any little things that need doing. Don't want the bloody thing blowing up on me. I was well under budget so I don't mind spending a bit on the usual things, just to get it running sweet.

Good to see your LCR is faultless now Tom, I'm sure that thing absolutely flies now ;) You must be proud of it.

Hard to capture the sound properly but that's the jist. With a nice sports exhaust set up it'll get a proper noise out of it.

The guy is called Gus, Italian and builds/race preps alfa's - dont need to say anymore.

He did all the work on my GTA wouldnt let anyone else touch it.

Best thing is my mate had a newer GTA a year before i got mine... his was sold and blew up on the motorway, mine was a good un hitting 160 on the autobahns last year then sold to the same lad who bought my mates!!! He still sends me pics as he hasnt changed it just loves it

Stop trying to get me to make myself bankrupt :D I'm getting some ideas together for an exhaust system, possibly replace the clutch as I have a sneaky suspicion it's on it's way out, service it then done. I will need money just to keep fixing the thing!

Exhaust is a good idea, the 3.2 V6 engine is such a lovely sounding engine and companied with a perfectly tuned exhaust you will be loving it. Personally I'd stretch to get some wheels and slam it on the ground also and then leave as is ;)

Thanks EL :) Been thinking about alloys, I personally don't like the ones on it, or the teledials that people go for. Would rather go for some multispoke alloys, saw a spider with them on and it looked sweet. However it's not necessary, won't change the ride so I'm not going to bother :p

Won't be lowering it either, although bushes etc will need re doing at some point. It's a hard old ride. BTW nice figures from custom map there mate ;)
