Strange power loss

Right i have a strange power loss on my LC 180 APP engine code, mapped hitting 18psi

When i first drive away i have boost that builds extremly quickly and will go like stink if WOT
However if im part throttle the boost will come up and you feel the car start to take off then its like hitting a wall the car holds back massively.

After the first few mins of driving i dont get any more holding back but the car just feels slow, the boost still comes up but its like its lost its kick, boost seems to build slower and takes more throttle to make boost.

However every now and then the car springs back to life like it used to go wheels spins off,

No Faults on VAG com

no boost leaks i can find

NEW bosch MAF a couple of weeks ago
NEW Genuine Lambda same time

Any ideas?

Oh and when logged i seem to only hit a max of 145G/S seems low especially for a new maf

Hi mate.
Seems there are a few of us with this same hesitation/power loss. have the same issue with my LCR and only notice it when pulling off on light throttle, proper annoying, don't think the problem has been solved yet.
I'm just living with it at the mo.
strange that your getting low readings on a new MAF though?? might be faulty.
there are a few threads regarding this issue.
hope you get it sorted mate.

Hi Guys,

I am also having a similar problem on my03 leon cupra 180. I had it remapped a couple of month ago at AMD. it drove fine and loved the map. Anyway somehow the kick seemed to disappear after a few weeks. The car felt heavy rather then light. Definately not the map as the car drives fine and done my research before choosing AMD. The boost was still there but will kick in later and with less power. Anyway all of a sudden the car came back to life this weekend and then realised that I was lacking power for a few weeks (Cant believe i didnt notice it, massive difference).

Well I have checked the hoses and connections and found a leak in one of the pipe. The pipe is leading from the N75 (I Think) to the side of the engine. As it leaves the N75 and to engine it seems to split to two parts. Quite a large rubber pipe about an inch wide. Anyone know what the pipe is called?

Sorry if Im not describing it properly I am a newbie in general.

I would much appreciate your help.

By the way, I can hear my 007P DV collecting the air before it dumps it. Is it normal?

sounds like it could be a faulty n75.

hmm have an MBC sitting around somewhere will try that to see if it cures it.

The low g/s reading could point to it being a sensor or similar sort of component issue.

The reason I say this is to me it sounds like your ecu getting an odd reading from something and restricting the car to not cause any damage etc possibly a MAP sensor sending you in to soft limp mode or something similar ;)

I could be way off but worth a thought if the G/S is low with a new maf I'd say the ECU's not requesting as much etc

Mine was doing this for months - from cold it went like the proverbial off a shovel but would slowly power down as it warmed up.

This was coupled with sudden loss of power under partial throttle.

No codes present.

Turns out I had a massive boost leak from the pipe going down the back of the engine block.

Can you hear your turbo spool up from inside the car with the windows shut? If it's louder than a whisper at the edge of your perception you may want to have a look at the thread I just posted.

cheers will check that out asap

things ruled out today

dump valve (recirculating forge copy) working fine with no leaks

N75, replaced whole setup with ball and spring MBC set it up to 18psi, No diffrence in the way the boost builds its still slow and totaly un agressive

will do another leak test tomorrow, have already replaced the PCV hose that goes under the inlet with a silicone version.

I'm looking to replace the large pipe coming from the n75 to the side of engine. Anyone know the name of that pipe? Thx

OK, checked for boost leaks again today, found nothing

something i noticed when logging with vagcom is that engine load at idle seems to sit at 20% is this normal? i swear my friends passat 1.8t sits at alot less than that.

So I have managed to figure out the pipe. It's the y breather pipe coming from the n75. Do u guys think if I replace the pipe my boost should return to normal? At the moment I get some sporadic boost but feels like an NA at most of the time. Earlier delivery for the pipe is Wednesday. Gona do a boost test by then to figure out any other boost leaks. Hope not.

So got the split hose changed but no joy. Now I'm stuck I checked everything. No leaks nothing, not sure why my car won't boost till around 2.5k revs n then it's not even full boost. Anyone think it's the n75 valve? Any luck with yours T108? By the way I had I remapped to start boosting below 2k. Can't feel the torque at all (apart from last weekend seat pinning boost). Any help will be much appreciated

Driving the for a day still feels it's lacking power. Feels like a standard map now. Is it possible to revert to standard map on it's own? Anyway will be taking it back to tuner to get it sorted. Reall don't honk it's the map cos I have power some of the time. Hopefully an easy fix. Missing the power really upset!!!
