Hi guys,

I part-ex'd my Cupra over the weekend. I hope it was the right decision.

Ive been looking at an A4 S-line for some time and bit the bullet on Saturday.

Bit of a difference in power. Had 240 horses in my Cupra, now only got 143 of them.

Lovely motor though!

Yeah I dont mind telling you what I sold it for.

It was a 58 plate with 20k on the clock - FSSH with the K1 kit - Red with Black Gloss Alloys, Black mirrors etc.

I tried 2 places - one being Tyneside Audi who offended me when they told me how much £11,000 - which was the settlement figure of the car.

The other place offered me £12,500 again i was gutted to find this out as Auto Trader have them going for £16,000.

Its currently on Auto Trader (i put it on the night before part ex'in it) and Ive had no interest at all.

So yeah I could have tried to get an extra £1000 by selling it private but it was a risk and I think i made the right choice.

So sorry if Ive said the wrong thing but I thought my car was worth a lot mor than it actually was!

No that's fine, it's very interesting. Thanks.

Trade is poor at present, - I have had a Honda dealer on the phone just a few mins ago sounding really desperate to sell an S2000 I test drove recently...he was almost begging me to buy it!

I had two honda dealers ringing me for months trying to get me to buy a type r from them after test drives, this was almost two years ago and the car market is no better now.

One of them wouldn't be Holdcrofts would it.

It would, would't do the deal that was right for me at the time but within days it could be done, didn't like the way they went about it, glad I didn't buy it as well, I reckon I would have been bored within weeks.

A Mate of mine looked at a Type R there 18 months a go, the car looked right abused for a six month old car, he didn't even have a test drive but they were desperate for a sale and kept calling him until he had one from a Dealer at Crewe a few weeks later.

The Crewe Honda dealer is the one calling me today... Now also part of Holdcroft group...

Now that is a pi$$ take, as said before don't let the dealers have it, private sale would be better.

I get the impression dealers are overstocked so looking to give crap trade in values as they might hold the stock for quite a while due to lack of demand... Seems the recession is really biting. I suspect it's better to sell privately at present.
